As you can see on one of my previous posts, I had an unproductive trip to the metro yesterday. It was a really stupid trip. Read that post and understand why.
It was stupid but I still had the guts to look at its positive side. It opened my eyes to the real world, the REAL ones.
In Pisay (I don’t know if this applies to all campuses but I’m sure it does; here in Pisay Davao), we have a so-called world. It’s not that I’m bragging, to tell you its not positive. We are given a perfect world where circumstances are controlled. Everything seems to be perfect. Everything seems to be fine and calm despite the stresses. When a person starts to get low grades, the teacher always comes to rescue.
Going back to the story, my trip forced me to think of an alternative activity and it was walking around the Downtown. On my journey, I realized that the WORLD I was used to was not the real world. I was some sort of shocked of the pace of life in the metro, too fast. I had the chance to had a glimpse of it. But it was fun, at least I won’t get uber-shocked when I go to college.
I also had the chance to eat some street foods sold by sidewalk vendors; the likes of kwek-kwek (quail eggs fried [?] in flour), chicken skin, fish ball, etc. It has been a while since I last ate one. It makes me remember of my elementary years when I regularly bought those kinds of food. It was once again, fun, cheap foods that gives great satisfaction! Only if I had a digital camera and the name of the sidewalk store, I should have reviewed it here.
Then in the middle of my walk still within Downtown area, I saw this familiar hotel, the Apo View Hotel. I think it was more than three years ago when I last slept at this hotel, but what I know about it is that it’s near the former PTA Grounds which is now called the People’s Park. Yeah, the controversial People’s Park which was rumored to be overpriced but further investigation of Commission on Audit said it was not. There was an immeasurable level of amazement in me when I first stepped in the park. It was clean, calm and simply amazing; ironic to its surroundings. The pathwalk from the entrance to the exit was colorful, the giant rainbow. I had the chance to see the scenery I used to see only in blogs. The durian dome’s color was almost the same of the durian’s color, the speakers scattered around sounded like beated cans (sorry to say that) and the statues made me remember of the famous movie which was later made into a TV series, Kokey, due to their big alien-like heads. The park was also green, with plants, grasses and trees all around. I left the park with a smile on my face, another first time.
I spent the rest of my walk pondering of my life. A lot of things popped on my mind. I realized that in a number of days (more than 30, lesser than 45), I have to leave the place I lived for 5 days (7 when I’m grounded in the Dorm) a week, 40 weeks a year for 4 straight years. I realized than in matter of months, I’ll be studying in another place much farther. That in a matter of months, I’ll be studying on the same school (again) with my ate (elder sister). That in matter of months, me and my ate will have more time with each other. That in months, I’ll be leaving my parents and my younger brother again.
Then the next part was getting tired of the walk. This time, I decided to get a jeepney ride back to school. Then I saw this Ulas-bound jeepney and rode the front seat. Ulas is a place on the way going back to school. I discovered that it was great sitting on the front seat. I don’t know why, but it’s really great there.
I think I’ll have to end this post. I’m happy that I’m confident enough of posting these kinds of post in this blog. Pardon me for my errors in grammar and/or spelling. ![]()
