Bought New Domain, But Not For Me

Category [tags]: Geek Talk, Pinoy Blogosphere

GoDaddy Logo + DreamHost Logo = cecilemaris.com

Just this afternoon, I bought my sister a domain (cecilemaris.com) at GoDaddy as a gift for her 18th birthday this November 6. I used my mom’s credit card to pay for it, but I still have to pay my mom for that.

I still had to configure the nameservers to point on my DreamHost hosting cause I only bought the domain. It’s no problem for me cause I still got more than 200GB of free webspace.

It was my first time to work on nameserver stuff as I have no previous knowledge with them, but it still went very well. In a short span of time, her domain was propagated around the world. I noticed that it propagated itself on PLDT servers instantly, while it took about an hour before it propagated to BayanTel (after changing the configuration, I tried to point the site using the two ISPs. PLDT resolved the hostname of my sister’s site instantly, while it took some time for BayanTel to resolve the hostname. I encountered tons of 404 pages on BayanTel before I accessed the site).

My sister’s using the domain for her blog. My sister was the one who introduced blogging to me and now I am reintroducing it to her. :D She’s very excited to blog on her new domain, but she is still very busy finding the right theme for her.

I’m helping her out on her blog tonight, from plugins, themes, niche and etc. I’d try to convince her to agree on the MBS1 resolution and blog-for-a-cause (peace in Mindanao? maybe Mindanao’s promotion’d be more feasible).

Good luck to me!

Category [tags]: Blogging, Personal

Yes, I’m now PageRank 1. The blog I left 29 days ago is already at PageRank 3. Nice development, right!

To all Mindanao Bloggers who were not able to attend the summit, you missed half of your life! Hahaha. Bawasan ba ang buhay nila? Congrats to my self, I thought getting a PR1 is very hard. Haha. PR1 for a 29-day blog! There’s still a lot more to go, yehey!

For the information of anyone interested, I haven’t slept since the Summit. I’m awake for approximiately 44 hours, 4 hours to go!

[UPDATE] MISSION FAILED. I slept 3 hours before the 48 hour mark. LOSER!

I’m on DabawPinoy’s Blog

Category [tags]: Mindanao, Pinoy Blogosphere

Hi. Sorry for my bad style of writing, I’m awake for 37 hours now! MINDANAO BLOGGER’S SUMMIT IS THE BEST! Hahaha, stayed with Kuya Blogie, Kuya Bryan, Kuya Richard, Kuya Ayel, Kuya Aethen and Kuya Jayvee (A Bugged Life) till about 3 in the morning. We spent some time at the FwendsDiner, gimik till dawn. MINDANAO BLOGGERS SUMMIT ULIT IS THE BEST.

Before I jump out of the topic, I want to jump in back to it (hahaha). So DabawPinoy blogged about the summit, and I have a special part on his post. Hahaha.

As seen on his post, this is the order of the pictures:

  1. The mob of bloggers who attended the Summit.
  2. Davao City Councilor Peter Laviña.
  3. Guest speaker Marc Macalua of Macalua.com and the founder of SEO Philippines.
  4. Guest speaker Jayvee Fernandez, owner of A Bugged Life. Works on b5media.
  5. Kuya Blogie Robillo, Kuya Bob Martin of Mindanao.com who lived in GenSan before (GO GENSAN!!) and his wife.
  6. Conrad Miguel E. Gozalo, that’s me. I’m the youngest blogger in the SUMMIT, and the only blogger from GENERAL SANTOS! Go GenSan!
  7. The guests, Abe Olandres of Yugatech, Andrew dela Serna of Alleba Blog, Marc Macalua of SEO Philippines, and Moslemen Macarambon Jr. + one girl.
  8. The organizers, THE USUAL SUSPECTS. Wooh, pinsan ni ate Ria crush ko!
  9. Dabaw Pinoy’s seatmates ate Chikai and Ody.
  10. Migs, the event emcee.
  11. Kuya Winston of BatangYagit.com.
  12. Registration volunteers, Ryan and ate Jenny who keeps her URL private. Siya siguro si Davao’s Food Huntress.

I’m the sixth picture, plus it’s a solo pic! Ang galing! You have to view his post and comment. Hehehe. I hope I’d still be the youngest blogger next summit.

Also, I would like to thank the USUAL SUSPECTS and the SPONSORS for the event. Hindi pa ako nakakaget-over sa event. Ang saya talaga. You should quote this The Usual Suspects. Ganito ako kasaya. Pinasaya niyo po talaga ako and it’s worth remembering. Kitakits sa next summit, hopefully! -Conrad Miguel E. Gozalo

Mindanao Blogger Summit 1 Wrap Up

Category [tags]: Mindanao, Pinoy Blogosphere []

Yesterday was the first ever Bloggers Summit in the Philippines, the Mindanao Bloggers Summit 1 held at 4th Floor NCCC Mall, Davao organized by the Usual Suspects. Thank you very much for that, it was very very very successful. Thank you for the prizes, I got an IBM Notebook and a web hosting plan.

I arrived the mall at about 10:30pm. I went directly to the 4th Floor, checked the summit area and saw a lot of adults there. I was already in front of the registration desk, still feeling the anxiety (takot na hindi makarelate). I heard the voice of kuya Migs from outside and they were about to sing the National Anthem. I backed out on my first attempt, went back down. (more…)

Domain’s First Month and MBS1

Category [tags]: Buhay Pisay, Mindanao, Pinoy Blogosphere []

Yesterday was my domain’s first month but I was not able to post. I’ve been very busy yesterday, promise.

So how’s my domain’s first month?

It was indeed a busy day. Our research group had our panel defense in the morning, I missed two classes anyway lucky enough it was considered excused absence. Then in the afternoon we had to revise it and submit it back to our research adviser. We submitted it before 5pm, then our adviser returned it about 5:30pm for another revision. We had to revise it again so me and one other groupmate had to stay late on the internet cafe. The revision took us hours, so that means little sleep for me again. Then this morning, we submitted the revised copy. Our research adviser adviced us to have another minor revision, so we revised it again.

How’s that? Three revisions in less than 36 hours! Yeah, that’s for the love of Regional Intel Science and Engineering Fair.

A little trivia: Since the start of the week, the earliest time I went to bed was 1am and the latest was 3am. Hahaha. I’m a little stressed now.

Also yesterday, I backed out for the Physics Quiz Bee. Why? Uhm, the Science Fair Congress was simultaenous with the Quiz Bee and only the team leader can speak during the Congress. I want to be the team leader so I sacrificed my Physics career. Anyway, I know our research study more than any PHYSICS concept. In fact, I can construct our circuit without the schematic diagrams and assembly programs!

I’m bragging again and no one can stop me. ;D

Mindanao Blogger’s Summit 1

I’m attending the Blogger’s Summit tomorrow. I was supposed to go home to GenSan today as most of the GenSan dormers did but I preferred to stay for the Summit.

I am pretty anxious now. I don’t know who to go with during the summit. I’m afraid to end up in front of the registration without registering! You know that feeling of anxiousness, you don’t even know if you’ll go or not on the last minute.

I’m also afraid I’ll be the youngest in the Summit and be left behind their mature conversations. Waaa, help me please.

I’ve read Batang Yagit’s article on Preparing for the Mindanao Bloggers Summit 1. Read it before you go.

Another trivia: I’ll be staying here in Davao till Sunday morning. I only have PhP474.00 in my pocket. So here’s my budget:

  • PhP 20.00 for my Netopia bill (I’m currently blogging here at Netopia).
  • PhP 20.00 for my fare back to the dorm.
  • PhP 20.00 for my fare to NCCC tomorrow for the summit.
  • PhP 100.00 for my haircut. (I’ll have my haircut before the Summit starts)
  • PhP 70.00 for my lunch (skipping breakfast)
  • PhP 50.00 for my dinner (small dinner)
  • PhP 20.00 for my fare to my grandfather’s house (sleeping there tomorrow)
  • PhP 10.00 for my fare to the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal
  • PhP 165.00 for my bus fare back to GenSan.

I’m so poor now. Waaaa!

I’m Attending the MBS1

Category [tags]: Mindanao, Pinoy Blogosphere []

MBS1 Badge

Yes, I’m attending the 1st Mindanao Bloggers Summit.

Earlier this month, I posted that I can’t attend the summit. But now, I’ve decided to cancel my e-competition registration at GenSan just to attend the summit.

Kuya Abe Olandres of Yugatech will be there. I’m a regular reader of his blog and I’m looking forward on seeing him in person.

I’ve already posted the required post for registration on my old blog, right here.

That’s all for now and see you guys!

Newspapers and Blogging

Category [tags]: Blogging [, ]

Living on the internet age, news can now be accessed on the Internet. It’s a high-speed technology. It happens at this very moment and in the next few minutes the news is published, unlike the newspaper that you still have to wait for tomorrow.

But still, it has become my habit to read newspapers from the school library everyday. I believe that newspaper articles have better quality with those available on the internet. My daily favorites are the Philippine Daily Inquirer and Philippine Star (THE STAR).

Every time I read newspapers, I usually start from the last part. Sports or entertainment, then lifestyle, then classified ads, then metro news, then world news, business, editorials, then on the first parts the national news. (more…)

Blog Life Updates : October 21

Category [tags]: Pinoy Blogosphere [, ]

Oh I forgot to post start of weekend BLU, but anyway I’ll put em here.

As I’ve said on one of my previous post, I’m currently very busy with things. Contests, research, research and research. At least I had time for blogging.

SO here’s an update:

  • Switched to Mandigo layout.
  • Got over 200pageviews yesterday (October 20), just like last week.
  • PinoyBlogero released the random finalists for his Pinoy Blog of the Month late. I was not on the list but still okay. It’s a nice contest, watch out for November’s Pinoy Blog of the Month.
  • Kuya/Sir Abe of Yugatech was on Makati near Glorietta during the explosion.
  • I had no time to blog hop so this’ll be all.
