After three days of preparation for a year-ender, after wasting tons of keystrokes, after trying to recall all my 2007 milestones, after backspacing paragraphs of text, after all the hardships to create a good year-ender… Time is running out, 2008 is fast approaching. I have no choice but to put them all to waste. I’ve decided not to create the usual LOONG year-ender. So here it is, enough of the LONG intro:

Yes, I have a new blog.

My new blog is written in Tagalog. The reason behind its sudden existence is that I missed blogging in Tagalog. Hahaha. It’s more of a personal blog than a niche blog.

Hope it gets a nice PR on the upcoming Pagerank updates.

Qoutes, as defined by my instinct, is obviously the mispronunciation of the word “quotes”. Neat, huh?! Another thing, did you know that according to Google Trends data, the Philippines tops the number of search queries for the string “qoutes”. What a shame!

This post is a keyword hijack. On the qoutes collection I promised on the post title, its nonexistent. Anyway, the word “qoute” doesn’t really exist! Thanks to kuya Marhgil Macuha for giving an idea for this post. I’m not giving him a backlink anymore, he doesn’t need it anymore. Hahahaha! Peace!

Online shopping can still be considered a “baby” here in the Philippines. But with the not-a-year-old expansion of Paypal’s full features in the country would make online shopping better heard this coming 2008.

Talking about babies, I saw this innovative “baby” website on online shopping, the DealShouter.com. It is a Digg-like deal aggregator (Digg is a news aggregator) in which users can submit deals, bargains, coupon codes, rebate offers or other special offers that may result in savings. Like Digg where the greatest posts make the frontpage, DealShouter, too, displays the greatest deals upfront. Bigger chances of getting the best online deals!

Users have their karma based on their performance. Those who posted the greatest deals get higher karma, while those who just spam in the site get lower karma’s.

The site also offers an RSS feed for those who doesn’t want to miss a single cent of savings. DealShouter, the real deal for big savers!

I was rebooting our computer after killing those Windows XP bugs in Safe Mode when I started to stare at my Unionbank EON card. I inspected the card carefully, from its nice front print down to its back portion. A fraction of the back portion reads Domestic Toll Free. Woohoo, perfect diversion of boredom! I used to be fond of calling toll free numbers when I was still young.

I dialed on our while GE cordless phone, 1800-1888-2277. Weeeee, I heard the voice of an answering machine. I pressed 5 for inquiries on EON and other deposit accounts. The machine said, please prepare your account or card number, you may need it in a short while. A second or two after the notice, I heard something like “Thank you for calling Unionbank. This is [the CSRs name], how may I help you?”. I paused for a moment asking myself, is it real? Yes it was, indeed it was a real person.

I inquired if my EON card was active. She asked for my card number and asked a minute to gain access to my account. After the short hold, she asked me verification details such as my name, address, date of birth, etc. She told me that my account was open and active but they are unable to check if my card had restrictions since it was time for a scheduled maintenance routine. She advised me to call back at 5am after the said maintenance.

Yeah, it was a real fun talking with a live person on phone at this time of the day. I’m very satisfied with Unionbank’s good customer support!

UPDATE: Called at exactly 5:00 am. The CSR advised me to call back later the hour. A small boo, they’re late! Hahaha. I based my 5:00am on the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the ones used in airports and other time-sensitive stuff.

UPDATE: Called at 5:36. At 5:36:49, the line said “All our customer service officers are engaged at the moment. Please hold and your call will be attended as soon as an officer becomes available.” Spoke to a real person at 5:38:30, which is a minute and 41 seconds later. The CS officer told me that according to their Internet Security team, the maintenance took longer than it is expected and is expected to up again the latest by 6.

UPDATE: 5:41am, tried to access online banking portal. It gave an notice that they are still under maintenance. After a minute, I tried again and they’re back UP on the line!

Nowadays, social networking websites are very numerous and most of them use the same concept or, in other words, business model. The user signs up, creates their profile which they use in order to interact with other users, with a couple of more options that make each social networking website unique, Facebook has its applications, MySpace has its music and fame, but today I would like to review a very special website that has just come out to life, I am talking about SocialSplash.com.
