The Dusty Shore

Category [tags]: Banking, Personal [, ]

Not an hour ago, an experience made my week. With my positive mental attitude, I get to laugh at it when others would probably resort to cursing.

Earlier, I rode a “public” motorcycle colloquially called habal-habal on my way to One Network Bank. I only had 10 pesos in my pocket, enough money for my fare.

When I reached the Bank, I walked straight to the automated teller machine (ATM). I was welcomed by two disassembled machines undergoing repair. Obviously, I backed off (no choice).

By that time, my only way to get back to the dorm is to walk. So I walked the dusty road back to school. It was so dusty that I feel I had my free face powder when I reached my destination. The walk reminded me of my summer internship.

I had my summer internship at the Environmental Conservation and Protection Center at Alabel, Sarangani Province. There were a lot of days when we had to walk kilometers along the breezy shoreline to assess the mangroves. It was very strenuous, I believe, but the beautiful scenery of the shore lessened the load. It resulted me total knockout every time I reach home.

My experience today made me thank of my internship. It was a really big help (as in BIG HELP, as big as the muscles on my legs). The experience was not much different with my internship walks, it’s just this time it’s on a dusty “shore”.

The author really enjoyed his internship. In fact, he was only required to work for 160 hours but he decided to go for the 200-mark. Here are some blog posts he made during his internship: Bakit?, ECPC Moments

Kuya Jehz Admitted That He’s a LOSER

Category [tags]: Pinoy Blogosphere

LOSER!

Above is a screencap of my conversation with kuya Jehz Laurente, the owner of the blog of inlink advertisments (wahehehe). After hours of denial, he eventually admitted that he is a sore LOSER. Anyway, the act of letting him admit that he’s a loser is a loser thing, but still he is a lot LOSER than my act (not me).

Here are some reasons why kuya Jehz deserves to be called a loser:

  1. His blog is full of inlink advertisments. He does not do blog monetization in moderation.
  2. I registered a bank in PayPal earlier than he did. Yes, that’s right. I registered a bank in PayPal account 23 minutes earlier than he did.
  3. He uses Ratimark. I bet you haven’t heard of Ratimark. Ratimark is a loser social bookmarking web application, just like Digg.
  4. He doesn’t have his own functional laptop charger to timestamp of this post. Yes he got his own laptop but having no functional charger is a LOSER thing.
  5. He asks people to subscribe to his feeds. Haha, how desperate! I have 35 feed subscribers to timestamp of this post but all of them were hard-earned subscribers, except for one which is my Google Reader subscription of my blog.
  6. His header sucks. Check his blog and you will see a really bad header

That’s all for now. Okay, kuya Jehz is loser!

Withdraw PayPal Funds to Philippine Bank Accounts

Category [tags]: Banking []

I tried to log on my PayPal account a while ago to confirm what kuya James posted on his blog, Pinoy Money Talk, and indeed, PayPal funds can now be withdrawn to Philippine Bank accounts.

A really great news, right? But not a very good news for me because I’ve already paid 350 pesos for my UnionBank EON account registration fee. If I only knew PayPal was opening this feature to the Philippines, amf.

Withdraw PayPal funds to Philippine bank account

Now, we can enjoy withdrawing funds for a lower fee. That’s a cheap PhP 50.00 fee for withdrawals lower than PhP 7,000 COMPARED to the $5.00 (more or less PhP 200.00) withdraw-to-card fee.

Ooops, I’m running out of words so I’ll discuss kuya James’ post.

——————

Pinoy Money Talk is one of the first, probably the very first, to break this news to the blogosphere but expect other sites and blogs to write about this without giving us credit although they got the news from us. LOL. –Pinoy Money Talk

Is this reverse psychology? Hahaha. I’m sure you’re gonna gain some Technorati authority with this.

——————

P.S. I’m sure some people will again claim that this recent development was a fruit of their labor and lobbying. Cut it out people, PayPal offered this because they saw what a big market the Philippines is for them. It’s not only you who have been long clamoring for this. With or without you, PayPal will certainly offer this anyway! –Pinoy Money Talk

I’m with you. I used to join online petitions for the full expansion of PayPal’s functionality in the Philippines. LOL!

To my other readers there who got lost of the post’s flow, GOOD LUCK.

Whoa, PayPal has a new favico. :D

Sound Trip

Category [tags]: Personal

It’s been a while since I last visited my playlist. I realized that most of my media library items in WinAmp has been moved to another location in the hard disk. I had to reset my media library by deleting existing entries and rescanning the computers for songs.

After doing the crappy time-consuming task, I decided to go on soundtrip with my brand new superb ultrabrilliant shure headphones (Shure is a popular brand of microphones and other audio devices, better check out the link for more details on the headphones). Here’s my current enqueue list [oops, please don't mind my out-of-this-world lago genre]:

  1. Ever Since the World Began - Survivor
  2. Sana Maulit Muli - Gary Valenciano
  3. Manila - Hotdogs
  4. Umagang Kayganda - Side A Band
  5. Kanlunang - Noel Cabangon
  6. Only Reminds Me of You - Christian Bautista
  7. Thank You - Dido
  8. Sundo - Imago
  9. Ulan - Cueshe
  10. 214 - Rivermaya
  11. You’re Beautiful - James Blunt
  12. Out of My League - Stephen Speaks
  13. Overdrive - Eraserheads
  14. Kabet - Gagong Rapper
  15. Bakit -  Gloc9
  16. Bakit Ngayon Lang - Vina Morales and Ogie Alcasid
  17. Binibini - Brownman Revival
  18. and more..

Noticed something? Obviously, they’re pretty old songs. I guess the most recently released song on the list is Sundo by Imago which was released a long time ago. :D

My Graduation Wish(es)

Category [tags]: Personal []

Hi guys. I am optimistic that I can graduate this March 25 despite my current standing. I am very excited for it. And just like every graduating Pisay scholar, I have to undergo the busiest weeks of my life.

In chronological order, we’ll have the Sci-Tech Fair this week. Then the achievement test then the JS Prom. Then after the Prom, the next activity would be the finals. This means we have to finish our researches and have it in hardbound.

With this, I think that I deserve a prize. Prize from myself, maybe. Hahaha. Here’s a list of my graduation wishes:

  1. A graduation with my (as if I own it :D) complete immediate family. I hope my ate (sister) would be able to attend this very important event in my life, but sadly she still have classes by that time. The only way she can attend is to have a same-day roundtrip ticket from Manila to Davao. We’re not that rich to buy one, so maybe you can donate any amount some thru this link (PayPal).
  2. Thumbnail of Acer Aspire 5920GAn Acer Aspire 5920G. As of my latest research, it is the only laptop with a NVIDIA GeForce 8600 series graphics card. This means more power for hardcore games, faster rendering of 3D graphics and more. Couple it with it’s uber-fast and reliable Santa Rosa motherboard. A real scorching laptop (hope it doesn’t overheat fast)!
  3. At least 500 uniques a day for this blog. It sounds lame, but I bet that’ll increase my earnings.
  4. A cellphone. Yes, I don’t have any cellphone. We are that poor that rich for me to own a phone.

That’s all for now, bye bye. :D Again, you may use this link for your PayPal donations.

Beware: Side effects of Blogging

Category [tags]: Blogging, Buhay Pisay [, , , ]

Blogging is fun, right? But beware, excessive and addictive blogging is dangerous for student bloggers like me. See how my blogging preoccupation affected my grades.

Here’s a portion of my report card, click to see the fullview:
Report Card Grades focused

Interpretation

Our grading system is a stanine system in which the grade 1.00 is the highest while the lowest attainable grade is 5.00. The passing grade is 2.50 therefore a grade lower than 2.5 (e.g. 2.75 or 3.00) is considered as a substandard grade.

From the figure above, you can see that I am a consistent UNO student for my elective. Anyway, my elective is Embedded Systems (electronics using microcontrollers). I’m also a consistent 1.25er of Computer Science, go CISCO! Most of my other subjects went down, huhuhu.

Rationalization (defense mechanism)

FYI: I always get low grades because of assignments and lab reports. Luckily, Computer Science and Embedded systems subjects seldom have those. I did not submit a single assignment for the third quarter. I have submitted less than half of all third quarter lab reports for Chem, Bio and Physics. What more do I expect, a failing grade right? (more…)

Back to Work

Category [tags]: Personal [, ]

I am currently working on a BIG (big relative to my size) project now. I have neglected my duties on the said project for the previous weeks, blame it to my slightly busy schedule.

This weekend, I’ll be gearing to the fastest gear. Together with this project, I’ll work out on our research gadget which is due by next week. Add the SG elections! What a busy weekend.

I’ll be posting more stuff in this blog soon. See you then.

FeedBurner Bug: 0 Feed Subscribers

Category [tags]: Internet (Tools)

feedburner_error.JPG

As you can see above, all my feeds managed at FeedBurner have 0 feed subscribers. I tried checking on other blogs, they too have 0 feed subscribers.

It must be another FeedBurner bug. :( It would be statistically improbably to have a 100% decrease in feed subscribers in a short period of time.
