Yey. I passed the UPCAT — for my first choice. My first choice is BS Computer Science at UP Diliman. Yey.

The UPCAT, or University of the Philippines College Admission Test, is a test taken by graduating high school students aspiring to study at the University of the Philippines.

Here’s a link for more info.

TO INCOMING UP DILIMAN FRESHMEN, you may check your coursemates by checking out on 2008 UP Diliman Incoming Freshmen. Please spread the word!

This Sunday, I’ll be taking the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST SEI) Undergraduate Scholarship Examination – Aptitude Test Battery. This is a test for incoming undergraduate students planning to take Science and Technology courses in the Philippines.

My exam schedule is 7:00PM this January 13, 2008. I’d better study to pass the exam and get the scholarship. As a non-RA7687 applicant, the competition is tougher. Waaaa!

I’ve logged on to DigitalPoint Forums a while ago and saw a thread that Google is currently on a Pagerank update. I tried checking my domain to as many multidatacenter Pagerank checkers as I can and saw my domain at PR3 on two Big G datacenters.

These datacenters are: 72.14.255.17 and 72.14.255.17.

Weeee, I hope this Pagerank update would open my blog to a wider horizon. Greater opportunities for monetization and other stuff. I bet I’ll be having higher Blog Juice, you know what it’s for, don’t you?

Try to check out your domains, here’s a link to some multidatacenter PR checkers:

Ooops, just remembered that Blog Juice doesn’t use Google Pagerank. ;D

Waaa, I’ve been a bad blogger lately. It’s been a long time ago since I posted a good post. I promise to post a good post soon. I have tons of postables posts on Draft mode, I hope I can have time to finish them soon.

Ooops, how about making this post a good post? Nice idea. Just changed the title of this post from “This Blog Needs Good Post” to “Drawbacks of Bad Posts”, FYI.

First, I have to define bad posts on my own unhumble (haha) words. Bad posts are:

  • sponsored review posts. Why? Paid reviews are usually sugarcoated posts (in kuya Blogie‘s terms). Most of the reviewers doesn’t even have a first-hand exposure to the service or the product.
  • posts made just to drive traffic (SEOing for traffic). I’ve created a lot of them: the UPCAT, DLSUCET, ACET and MSU-SASE posts. Even though they’re almost worthless except for the results page link, they generate a lot of hits anyway.

I must admit that at least 10 of my previous posts fit my own definition of a bad post (ang labo ko!). Here are the drawbacks of having crappy posts one after another (based on my own experience):

  • Sudden decrease in average visit length. Uhm, it’s obvious. No one would care to stay long to a blog with crap posts. :D
  • Drop of feed subscribers. I used to have 30+ feed subscribers on weekends. When I started posting bad posts, it decreased to 20+. Huhuhu.

Lesson learned. Never post a bad post again. I mean, do not post bad posts one after another. Alternating good and bad posts would do. :D

Ooops, another bad post! :D

—————————

The UPCAT 2008 results created a buzz in a small portion of our classroom, earlier today. One of my classmates shared that the UPCAT 2008 results are now in the Admissions Office University Registrar of UP Diliman but still not released to the public.

Wee, I’m excited to see the results. Waa, my anxiety is raging. What if I don’t pass? Huhuhu. :(

I should pass it, no matter what.

Davao City tops the “UPCAT” keyword among all the cities around the globe according to Google Trends.

The data graph [available through the Google Trends result] suggests that the search volume for the keyword is increasing by the first part of First Quarter and at the maximum at the mid-part of the same quarter every year. The said periods are the schedule for the release of UPCAT (University of the Philippines College Admission Test) results.

I did not have the chance to blog for how a number of days cause classes had to start last January 3. Some schools will start this coming 7th, arrg. That’s like four days ahead, but it’s over I can’t do anything ’bout it. Here are some of my Christmas Holidays frustrations:

  • No new blog layout. I have always planned to make a new blog layout, but I was too lazy to do it. :( Huhuhu.
  • No outside-the-country trip. Actually, I have never left the country. But I always had it in mind that the recently concluded Holiday season was the right time to try it out. If ever I had the chance, I’d prefer to go to San Diego, CA. Yeah, that’s right: San Diego, California not San Diego, Canada. What’s good about San Diego is that it’s a conservative place unlike Vegas with a wide array of nightlife, shopping, dining and entertainment locations.
  • Did not reach the 70 goal. I always wished to have a Technorati authority of 70 by the end of the year but I was too shy to ask for one-way links. Hahaha. My blogroll’s already crowded, I think I should delete some.

Another thing, the NCAE or National Career Assessment Examination results were shared to us, students. I got a 99+ rating (the highest possible) on Scholastic Aptitude. Yey, I’m too proud of it. But I only got a mark of line of 7 on technical vocational skills! Arg, I’m not meant to be a plumber or electrician someday. Then a mark of 84 for entrepreneurial skills. At least, I can be an average businessman. Be it, I’m not in Club 99+! Hahaha. :D (Club 99+ is an exclusive club for students who got a mark of 99+ on those three domains. 21 students got it, congrats to them)

UPDATE: As of January 3, 2009 9:56pm, the DLSU website is inaccessible. Most probably, their web server went down after a surge of traffic.

The results of the De Lasalle University College Entrance Test was released today, 12:00 am. It can be accessed through the My.LaSalle University Portal.

In order to access your test results, you need to supply your reference number found on your exam permit. Good luck, hope you haven’t junked it off. :D

[Blog owner's note: WT*, not a good 2008 first post! Anyway, I did not take the exam!]
