Dinner at Avenida

Last week was very bad week for me. I had to eat fastfood meals for a number of consecutive days. I was already feeling weak, maybe because I’m not just used to eating lots of it.

But I chose to give the week a happy ending.

Last Saturday dinner, I joined the group of bloggers who ate at Avenida as part of Davao Food Trip. The group was led by Kuya Blogie Robillo, the event organizer, with Ate Ria, Kuya Andrew, Kuya Winston, Ate Tiara, Ate Pearl, Ate Andie, Ate Issa, Kuya Norbs and me. Avenida is a restaurant located at the ground floor of Lispher Inn in Juna Subdivision in Matina, Davao City. It is conveniently located at the heart of the city, sandwiched by two malls, NCCC Mall of Davao and SM City Davao.

The first dish served to us was the Beef Misono. I don’t have an idea how a Beef Misono should taste but based on their servings, a Beef Misono should be really that good. I’m not a fan of restaurant food but I loved the dish, couple it with the tasty sauce in Aladdin’s magic lamp. I mean, tasty sauce served in a Aladdin’s magic lamp-like container. :D The steamed rice served was also yummy. My tongue comprehends the rice buttered (ooops, is it the right term), but I’m not really sure if it really contained butter. :D (serving for two for PhP 110.00)

The next dish was Bangus Belly, a favorite dish of mine. Their Bangus Belly was more than at par of what my tongue was expecting. It was served with one of my favorite leafy vegetables, Kangkong. Just like the previous dish, it was yummy and tasty. It had a unique soothing mild sour taste, maybe because of the onion and tomatoes. Just like any Bangus Belly served on establishments, it contained to fish bones. Yehey! :D (PhP 90.00)

Then, the last dish, the Sizzling Squid! I admit that I was not able to try it out cause I was already full, blame my favorite Bangus Belly. :( It looked really amazing, and again another Aladdin’s magic lamp but now with butter. It’s looks says that it’s promisingly good, but I stopped myself to the best of my self-control. (PhP 120.00)

And yeah, before I forget, there was this Iced Tea. Their Iced Tea tasted and looked like Iced Tea. That’s it, I don’t know how to describe it anyway. The only adjective I can attach to their Iced Tea is good. Yeah, it was good. :D (PhP 30.00)

Avenida saved my fastfood-full week. Yehey! I recommend Avenida for people who are tired of eating fastfood food. They serve very good food at cheap rates. They make it a point that you get the best value of your cash without compromising satisfaction. :D Plus, the place is a Wi-Fi hotspot (a big PLUS even though I don’t own a Wi-Fi capable device)! :D

Post Indexed by Google in 12 Minutes

Indexed by Google in 12 minutes

Not an hour ago, I posted a post titled “Tips on Taking Multiple Choice Standardized Exams”. I was so amazed when I received a Google Alert that my post has been indexed already 12 minutes after I published it.

After a few more moments after my indescribable amazement, I remembered a post from YugaTech.com regarding his own record. Guess what, mine is much faster than his by 4 minutes. :D Here’s his post: http://www.yugatech.com/blog/gooooogle/google-indexed-in-16-minutes/.

Call me ignorant if you want to, I’m just being happy of my little achievement. I’m sure many other bloggers out there are having a lot faster index times. :D

Tips on Taking Multiple Choice Standardized Exams

mpchoice.jpg

After three long days of Internet deprivation, I’m back blogging. The main culprit is the three-day achievement test, too bad. Now, you understand why I’m writing this post.

Students just like multiple-choice type of questions, right? If you don’t know the answer, you still have a 1/n where n is the number of choices chance of getting the right answer.

Here are some tips (from a standardized test achiever, I guess) in answering those multiple-choice standardized exams (also applicable on non-standardized exams):

  • Try to start at the back. Some standardized exams have the easiest questions at the back. Just trust me!
  • Read the questions as fast as you can. Try to answer the easiest questions with obvious answers. In subjects dealing with numbers such as Math and Physics, try to answer the questions that doesn’t require solving.
  • Don’t stay too long in a problem, unless those hard questions are the ones left. Try to skip them as much as you can, you can answer them later anyway.
  • Use elimination method. This is a method in which you try every answer. If it turns out to be wrong, then eliminate it. It increases the chances of getting the right answer on unsure questions.
  • When you don’t know the answer to a solving problem, try to multiply, divide or add all the given data. Sometimes you find the product, quotient, sum or difference on the choices.
  • Find the most realistic answer. For example, more than a thousand Kelvin is an unlikely answer in Chemistry problems. Standardized exams uses realistic problems, not idealistic.
  • If you don’t know the answer, trust your instinct as much as possible.
  • Lastly, rely on your luck. I recommend you doing this on the last minutes of the exam when you’re hopeless to answer the remaining questions. Don’t leave a single question unanswered, unless if there’s a deduction for a wrong answer.

I hope it helps! Sorry, I’m no good writer! :D

Prom Preparations to Aftermath

Personal post. It’s kind of boring, promise!

We, the seniors, had our last JS prom last Friday at Grand Men Seng Hotel. Since it was our last prom, we really prepared for it. Even I who was tired of having the activity prepared for it.

Preparations

My prom preparations started two weeks ago. I borrowed a pair of formal shoes from my uncle. Then last week, the three of us (me, Nickeen and San) went to Wedding Bells to rent a coat. Last Thursday, we went back to Wedding Bells to get our coats and I bought my long-sleeved polo. Finally, it ended last Friday. It was when I bought new pair of socks, a pair of slippers for the after-prom activities and other necessities.

The preparations costed me a lot. For those two weeks of prom preparations excluding other trips within those weeks, I spent a lot for more than ten taxi rides. Add the numerous times I ate at KFC and Greenwich. Really costly! (more…)

An Open Letter to Spambot Deployers

Dear Spambot Deployers,

As much as I want to cuss words in my precious blog, I can’t. I don’t know why I’m restricting myself to do so.

I want you to know that I hate you! This morning when I signed in my blog, Akismet spam filter reported 908 filtered spam comments for a duration of one day. It will take me a LOT of time just to check each of the comments. This resorted me to clicking the “Delete All” button. What’s the implication? Simple, some non-spam comments could have been deleted with your crap spam comments about sex, online gaming or online casinos.

I’m not writing this cause of excessive bandwidth cost, I just don’t care about those things (I virtually have unlimited bandwidth)! If you’re into internet marketing, please do it in a non-spam manner. I have never solicited your unsolicited horny comments so please put me on your spambot’s blacklist! There are many legal and unannoying ways to market your products in the Internet. Evil ways are evil, okay.

I don’t have anything to say now. That’s all and please STOP SPAMMING! [insert_your_bad_word_here]!

The Networking Practicals

Ooops, my Marbel post is still under construction.

We just had our Networking Practical Exams. We were tasked to connect the routers, switches and PCs based on the topology given. We have to do the cabling from the power cords, Ethernet connections, serial connections to console part.

It was time pressured. We were only given 5 minutes to implement the topology. We did not finish all the connections, specifically the two power cords. It was fun, so much fun. I know I did the right thing, grace under pressure.

Hahaha. That’s all for now. Good luck Cisco, good luck to me.
