Yes, PhP 40,000.00 per year for hosting, not PhP 4,000.00. No, it’s not me. It’s SE Laplana‘s (owner of selaplana.com) blog.
He revealed this in his $5.00 review of FreezeOne Internet, a UK-based web host. On his post’s comments alone, you can see a lot of shall I say violent reactions (the word “violent” is subjective). One of them even clarified the possible typo (asked if it’s 40K or 4K), but kuya SELaplana confirmed it as his reply says:
Hi! It’s 40T. actually I purchased a reseller account from ____host (not Dreamhost) with 60GB bandwidth. But I think one of these days, I will be upgrading again to 1 higher reseller account with 90GB bandwidth because the 60GB bandwidth is almost up.
{insert your bad word here}, that’s the cost of a laptop! Only 60GB bandwidth, my web space is even bigger than that (I have 240GB web space). [A little marketing: You can host with my current DreamHost account. I can give you 10GB of web space, 100GB bandwidth and a domain for only PhP 1,750.00 a year (slashed to PhP 1,000.00 if you already have a domain). For more info, check my Hosting page.]
Personally, I’m not willing to spend a big amount of hosting. I can’t even afford that (laughs). But kuya SELaplana claims that his blog’s income surpasses the costs (positive accounting profit). Nice for him, but it’s still a big amount anyway.
Are you willing to spend a big amount for hosting? ;D

mahal naman.
haha. i can’t even afford to have my own hosting.
by the way, mikko na walang malay ka na pala ngayon. parang kelan lang e wiz kid tawag ko sayo. ngaun wla ka nang malay. anyway, magandang development ito.
40K for a webhost?! That’s insane. I only spend 1/8 of that amount for my hosting needs per year.
Then again SELaplana is blog/site overlord so his needs justify it.
aanhin pa ang pera kung may 50k per month sa adsense.. ehdi ok lang 40kphp per year.. hehe
90GB bandwidth is not enough for selaplana’s site! waaaaaaaaaa!! dapat nasa 100Terabytes yun, or else, it will crash again
hehe
I spend a bit more than that for my hosting, and yes it still does crash once in a while. 40k isn’t that bad if you compute it per month.
