About
Conrad Miguel E. Gozalo is a 18-year old self-proclaimed geek from General Santos City. He is a leader on his little ways. He is into blogging, web design and development, general programming and supporting Free and Open Source Software.
Educational Background
He is currently taking up his Bachelor in Science in Computer Science in the Philippines’ only National University, the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. He finished his high school at government science high school, the Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus in Davao City. He spent and finished his primary education (elementary) at a public school in General Santos, the Dadiangas West Central Elementary School.
Mikko as a Blogger
Mikko could be the worst blogger in the Philippine blogosphere. He can put people to sleep quite easily. Hahaha.
He has attended various blogger events such as the 3rd and 4th Philippine Blogging Summits (iBlog 3 and 4), the 1st and 2nd Mindanao Blogger Summits and other food trips.
He was a shout-out speaker at the 2nd Mindanao Blogger Summit where he gave tips on blogging.
The following are his simple achievements in the blogosphere:
- won 3rd Place on the You Got Blogged Review-a-Blog Contest.
- got a place on the Top 100 Blogs of 2008 (Philippines).
He earns thru blogging in some evil way he doesn’t want to disclose.
Mikko as a Web Designer and Developer
He believes a person can’t be both a web designer and web developer — but sadly he is interested on both fields. He designed and coded the layout of this blog, except for the Geek logo on the header.
He is very particular when it comes to mark-up. In fact, this blog passes the validation for XHTML 1.0 Transitional. He is planning to shift to XHTML 1.0 Strict in the near future. He firmly believes that wrong mark-up could be as bad as wrong grammar.
Mikko as a !@#$%
Actually, he believes that he is not worthy to be called a developer, but who knows he’ll be one in the future. Mikko has engaged himself on some projects, including some few Free and Open Source Software. One of his first programs was a Windows-executable application that earns Neopoints for Neopets. It was actually an evil program programmed in old-school Microsoft Visual Basic 6.
He was first engaged in Visual Basic 6 but later on decided to switch to cross-platform programming languages. He has experience on the following programming languages: PHP, Java, C, NQC (Not Quite C, used in Lego Mindstorms), an assembly language (8051), BASIC and others. He can also write using the following markups: XML, HTML and CSS.
He is interested on a lot of geeky stuff; from programming PIC and Atmel microcontrollers, designing circuits, programming some interesting stuff, solving Math and Physics problems and the list goes on and on. Unfortunately, he lost some love to circuits when he graduated high school, when he was far away from them.
Mikko as a FOSS advocate
Mikko is a FOSS advocate in his little ways. He is affiliated on a Linux Users Group in his University. He promotes FOSS to his friends. He also helps other people switch to Free and Open Source operating systems (such as Linux).
