Circulating Earthquake Warning Text Messages - a hoax according to Philvolcs

Category [tags]: Current Events

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Philvolcs) confirmed that circulating text messages regarding a magnitude 6.8 earthquake prediction to hit the Philippine Plate is a hoax.

U.S. GEOLOGICAL SOCIETY PREDICTS A 6.8 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE WILL HIT PHILIPPINE PLATE TONIGHT. PLS BE CALM & ALERT. This txt msg is from hawaii state emergency preparedness office. Please pass (no harm in being prepared) lets pray dis will not happen.

Philvolcs also clarified that they are not aware of any United States Geological Society, instead they are working with the United States Geological Service (but as far as I know its US Geological Survey). They also stressed out that there is no current technology that can accurately predict an earthquake.

iPhone; on its way to the Philippines

Category [tags]: Current Events

It’s official, iPhone is coming to town. At last, we’ll see functional non-cracked iPhones in the country.

Here’s an excerpt from Globe Corporate Blog:

Globe, SingTel, Bharti Airtel and Optus to bring iPhone to the region
Manila, 12 May 2008 – Globe, SingTel, Bharti Airtel and Optus today announced that they have signed an agreement with Apple to bring the iPhone to the Philippines, Singapore, India, and Australia later this year.

More information will be released at a later date.

Woohoo! Smart should also have an agreement with Apple; especially now that 3G iPhones are being released.

Happy Earth Day and New Layout

Category [tags]: Current Events, U.P. (Enrollment & Stuff)

Happy Earth Day!

Today is Earth Day, and I feel a kind of nostalgism (don’t care if the word doesn’t exist). It makes me remember of my last year’s Internship when I had the chance to participate on Earth Day events. We, the three Pisay interns, were even the ones who made the Earth Day Info corner in Sarangani Province’ Capitol.

Enough of it. So, I have a new layout. If you’re reading from your feed reader or email, you won’t notice this but I recommend that you visit my site so you won’t miss the thing.

The changes in the new layout are:

  • The design. (obvious)
  • No more twit box. (huhuhu.. not a big loss)
  • No more featured blog of the week pane. (I’m tired of maintaining it)
  • Removed some advertisements, specifically the DreamHost campaigns. (they suck!)
  • New and improved comment visuals. (gravatar love :D)

I designed and coded it. I made those boxes, shadows, etc. The vector graphics (RSS buttons, navigation icons) were taken from different authors but from one source, (more…)

UP Oblation in 100-peso Bills?

Category [tags]: Current Events, U.P. (Enrollment & Stuff)

Yes, the UP oblation overprinted on 100-peso bills.

And Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has approved the overprinting of the image of the oblation on new hundred peso bills to be circulated soon.

An artist speculation has been rendered by philmoney.blogspot.com. And here’s how it looked like (subjective to the artist):

Looking forward to the circulation of these bills. :D

Some McDo PH Staff Visited My Site

Category [tags]: Current Events []

UPDATE
I already received an e-mail from them. The one who contacted me said that he has escalated the matter to their Customer Service Group, their 8MCDO team, and to Davao’s area manager.

McDo in my log

The image you see above is a screenshot from the analytics tool I use in my blog, StatCounter. The sceenshot was recorded earlier today.

As seen in the “Recent Came From” records of my blog, there were three (3) entries to my blog from McDo’s email web interface earlier this day around 3PM. I bet some McDo staff has already read my Horrible Experience with Them.

I don’t know if they read the email I sent to them late night Wednesday or they just stumbled upon my posts. I’m still waiting for their reaction.

Ronald McDonald, if ever you are reading this post, please contact me immediately using my contact form. I’m sorry I don’t have a mobile phone. :D

Oooops, just reviewed my Privacy Policy. It states there that my analytics log becomes my property once recorded so I’m not violating it. :D

this post is a crap - hahahaha

We Share the Same Earthquake!!!

Category [tags]: Current Events

Not five minutes ago, an earthquake struck our home.

I immediately issued a group message to my Pisay Batchmates group of my Yahoo Messenger regarding the ground-shaking event. To my surprise, some five of them replied that they also experienced the quake. :D Cool, huh? They were Rafael Baula, Heidi Torralba, Kimberly Lagrama, Maria Lea Villanueva and April Ondona.

Weee, we shared the same earthquake!

UPDATE: All five specified above were in Davao when the earthquake struck; while I was in GenSan. :D Tama ba ang grammar?
