SPOT Pass: An Exclusive Blogger’s Tour Day 1

Category [tags]: Food Trip, Personal, Pinoy Blogosphere

Waaaaa, I hate to have the same title with my sister’s post bad sadly I can’t play with the title cause it’s the title of the event.

SPOT Pass: An exclusive blogger’s tour is a two-day food tour event organized by SPOT.ph, an online review central for establishments in the city. The first day was held last April 25, 2008 and I was there; the second leg would be tomorrow and I’m most probably attending it.

For our first day, we ate at Trinoma’s different restaurants. Almost all of them were super-high-end which I believe I can’t afford until I earn $1000.00 a month in (more…)

My First Three Days in the Metro

Category [tags]: Personal, Pinoy Blogosphere

Hello guys out there.

I had a lot to share on my first three days here in Metro Manila. I’m lucky that a lot of blogger’s events got lined up just in time for my arrival. :D

Nothing so significant on my first day. I only queued up for about 30 minutes for my dorm billing form. Oh, I also had the chance to visit Trinoma that day.

Then the second day is the real treat. It was the spot.ph Exclusive Bloggers’ Tour. It was actually the first day, so we had it in the different levels of Trinoma. To give you an idea, spot.ph is a website which caters reviews of establishments around the city. I’ll be posting another one for this.

The third day was the iBlog 4 : The 4th Philippine Blogging Summit. I get to see bloggers which I only knew online. And of course, the Davao people were there (Ate Ria, Kuya Andrew, Kuya Blogie, Kuya Migs, Kuya Winston). After the summit was the 88db.com Party at Katip’s Bar. It was fun; we only had no seat to sit on. We (me and my sister) finished the human bingo — so we got the loot bags and our personalized business cards.

I’m posting more of each activity later. This is just an overview of my (more…)

I’m Attending iblog 4!

Category [tags]: Pinoy Blogosphere [, , , ]

Yes, I am attending the iblog 4: The 4th Philippine Blogging Summit!

The iblog4 will be held at the Malcolm Theather, College of Law in UP Diliman this coming April 26, 2008. It’s the main reason I’ll be leaving GenSan early (this April 24) for my May 6 UP enrollment.

I’m very excited ’cause I heard a lot of other Davao bloggers are also coming. Woohoo! Ate Ria, the blogger behind My Davao City and a lot more blogs, will be speaking for the event. She’ll talk on “Blogging on the Countryside”, nice topic!

Sponsors (some link love)

I’m inviting everyone out there especially my kababayans in GenSan to join me there! I don’t want to be the only General (term used to refer inhabitants of General Santos) during the event, or worse the only Region 12 guy. Here’s the registration link for the event if you’re interested.

Then, what’s next after the iblog 4? Uhm, just like the Mindanao Blogger’s Summit 1, there’ll be a party after it. The 88db.com Bloggers’ Night! I won’t be missing this part, anyway it’s just a couple of steps away from UP. The 88db.com Bloggers’ Night will be held right after iblog 4, 7pm at Katip’s Bar in Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City. During the party, they’ll be giving out everyone who wears as their blog (dresses up like his/her blog) a chance to bring home the brand new Sony PSP loot! Exciting.

I’m now thinking what to wear. Build that Geek — should I wear breadboards with microcontrollers or have a shirt printed with a PHP code?

Waaaaaaaa. That’s all for now.

Ooops, before I forget. The 88db.com event has only 200 slots. Have your slots now!

Featured Blog of the Week: JoanJoyce.com

Category [tags]: Pinoy Blogosphere

JoanJoyce.com first caught my eyes I think a month ago after I saw her 125×125 button at Entrecard. I never cared to visit her blog until…

It was today early dawn when I was trying to gain some Entrecard credits at the same time finding good reads. I saw her 125×125 button again for the nth time, but this time instead of just dropping a card as I always do, I tried reading her posts. That was the time I realized that it’s worth reading her posts.

JoanJoyce is a nice blog. Basing from latest posts, her blog was not focused on a single niche. She talks on merely anything she wants to talk about like her recently claimed UnionBank EON card. Her posts are interesting, thus yielding a lot of comments per post.

She maintains a wide selection of “Make Money Online” posts, which I think is overcrowding the Internet (not just her posts, but the whole blogosphere’s).

I don’t know much about Joan Joyce cause I haven’t communicated with this person in any way or another.

Pinoy Blogger, tagged as spammer by Akismet

Category [tags]: Pinoy Blogosphere [, ]

Some Pinoy bloggers are familiar with the leap day (February 29) incident when kuya Jehz the Loser’s BlogSpot blog was locked by Google after getting a spam blog status, right? Now, another Pinoy blogger was tagged as a spammer, not by Google but by Akismet.

Akismet Logo

Akismet Spam Filter tagged a Pinoy Blogger, Gerwin of Simpleng Tao as a spammer. We (he and I) discovered his “spammer” status after trying to comment in my blog last Sunday.

His comment failed to appear on my post page and reported it to me. At first, I tried to check my fresh self-coded and designed WordPress theme. There was no problem with the code though, since other people had the chance to comment. Then I checked my blog’s commentator blacklist, but still not listed.  So I resorted on checking my Akismet spam comments and his comment was there together with other pornographic spam comments.

Until now, he still can’t understand why he was banned. Poor Gerwin, poor blogger. :(

Kuya Jehz Admitted That He’s a LOSER

Category [tags]: Pinoy Blogosphere

LOSER!

Above is a screencap of my conversation with kuya Jehz Laurente, the owner of the blog of inlink advertisments (wahehehe). After hours of denial, he eventually admitted that he is a sore LOSER. Anyway, the act of letting him admit that he’s a loser is a loser thing, but still he is a lot LOSER than my act (not me).

Here are some reasons why kuya Jehz deserves to be called a loser:

  1. His blog is full of inlink advertisments. He does not do blog monetization in moderation.
  2. I registered a bank in PayPal earlier than he did. Yes, that’s right. I registered a bank in PayPal account 23 minutes earlier than he did.
  3. He uses Ratimark. I bet you haven’t heard of Ratimark. Ratimark is a loser social bookmarking web application, just like Digg.
  4. He doesn’t have his own functional laptop charger to timestamp of this post. Yes he got his own laptop but having no functional charger is a LOSER thing.
  5. He asks people to subscribe to his feeds. Haha, how desperate! I have 35 feed subscribers to timestamp of this post but all of them were hard-earned subscribers, except for one which is my Google Reader subscription of my blog.
  6. His header sucks. Check his blog and you will see a really bad header

That’s all for now. Okay, kuya Jehz is loser!

Dormant

Category [tags]: Pinoy Blogosphere

Hi.

Expect this blog to be dormant for a while. I’m still busy earning at DigitalPoint. So far this Christmas break, I made:

  • $4.00 for reviewing my host, Dreamhost.
  • $3.00 for advertising SocialSplash, and
  • $5.00 for suggesting a domain (enigmate.com).
  • $5.08 for advertising Online Casino (still waiting for payout)

Plus I won $50.00 for my review on PRC Board Exam Results website. I don’t mind much on my AdSense now, it’s crappy slow.

By the end of the year, I’m expecting $62.00 on my PayPal account. I’m still finding more opportunities in the Internet. Watch out, I’m releasing a web application anytime soon (could be after two days, two weeks, or two months). :D

I Won the You Got Blogged Review-a-Blog Competition!

Category [tags]: Pinoy Blogosphere [, , , ]

Waaaaa, I’m third place! Thanks to kuya Winston and kuya Jehz for convincing me to review their PRC Board Exam Results Website [link to review]. By the time I was making the review, I forgot about the YGB! contest. It was only after I published the review when kuya Winston told me to submit it to the said contest.

Yey, that’s an additional $50.00 on my PayPal account!

My EON card came just in time. Now, I have a lot of dollar$ to brag. I’m now an official dollar earner! Hahaha.

Too bad the peso’s going strong, but let’s be happy with that bitter fact (bitter for dollar earners like me)!

My plans for my accumulated PayPal money (approx. $10.00 right now + $50.00 cash prize + expected $10.00 on January):

  • cellphone
  • another domain name
  • savings

Yey. Happy blogging to me!

Oooops, before I forget, congrats kuya Winston and kuya Jehz. Just remembered that the party reviewed also gets the same prize! :D

[UPDATE] Thanks to the Digital Filipino Club, the contest’s sponsor

0 Feed Subscribers?

Category [tags]: Pinoy Blogosphere

Zero Feed Subscribers?

0 feed subscribers?! I discovered this while reading ate Ria’s blog. What brought me to her blog, a feed subscription notification on her blog post “A Thirty Minute Wedding“!

Is it an addition to the array list of FeedBurner bugs?
