An interesting discussion is worth comment. I feel which you really should write a lot more on this topic, it might not be a taboo topic but frequently people are not adequate to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers

And if you just share your internet in the room there is no need to set Linksys as PPPoe unless kung may balak ka gumawa ng Wifi Hotspots na binabayaran. Just set it to Automatic configuration - DHCP

Here is an example.
Prolink Hurricane 5200 default IP is 192.168.1.1
for wireles 192.168.254.254

Linksys WRT54G2 default IP is 192.168.1.1

As you can see naman si Prolink at Linksys ay magkapareha ang IP except sa wireless.
So kung hahayaan mo lang ang IP ni linksys mag ka conflict yan so walang internet lalabas sa pc mo.

How to configure:
2. Pasukin mo si Linksys sa 192.168.1.1.
3. Goto Lan setup and find the LAN IP ni linksys. Pag may makita ka dun na 192.168.1.1 yan na palitan mo like 192.168.2.1.
4. Hayaan mo ang subnet mask.
6. Save and reboot. (Kusang mag reboot si linksys)

So ang IP ni linksys ngayun ay 192.168.2.1 while the rest of the computer susunod sa subnet ni linksys like 192.168.2.2 etc. So there is no need to restart PC only the browser.

BTW sa mga prolink na wireless na ang IP 192.168.254.254 hindi na dapat palitan ang IP ni Linksys kasi makikita mo naman di sila pareho so there is no conflict between them.

Thank you..

1. First pag pa andar ng Modem, it will “contact” Globelines server and ask permission to connect.
Ammm.. Pag andar ni modem it will try to connect sa globe using PPPoe protocol with authentication. Madalas 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.254.254 for wireless..
2. When we turn on the router, it will “contact” the modem and the modem will give it an IP address.

Awtz! Pag sablay di talaga gagana walang minsan yan.

BTW Prolink Hurricane is not just a modem, it is a modem router.

Hello Sir/Ma'm

Im bored and nothing to do so here goes.

Ang tawag po diyan is "powercycling".

Here's an explaination as easy as i can put it.

Para gumana ng husto ang home network kelangan patayin ang mga equipment at least 20 seconds PERO kelangan mag perform ng tinatawag na "sequenced powercycle" when turning the devices on, one at a time.

in correct order:

1. Turn on Modem, wait 30 seconds
2. Turn on Router, wait 30 seconds
3. Turn on Computer.

------
Question: "Bakit kelangan pa patayin?"
Answer: Lumang settings pa minsan ginagamit ng modem/router/computer mo.

Question: Bakit kelangan in order? :D
Answer: Ganito yan sa mga internet provider in a very basic explaination.

1. First pag pa andar ng Modem, it will "contact" Globelines server and ask permission to connect.

2. When we turn on the router, it will "contact" the modem and the modem will give it an IP address.

3. Syempre, ang computer hihingi din ng permission to connect and IP address, pero ang router naman bibigay ng IP address sa computer.

Have a nice day :)
