Prom Preparations to Aftermath

Personal post. It’s kind of boring, promise!

We, the seniors, had our last JS prom last Friday at Grand Men Seng Hotel. Since it was our last prom, we really prepared for it. Even I who was tired of having the activity prepared for it.

Preparations

My prom preparations started two weeks ago. I borrowed a pair of formal shoes from my uncle. Then last week, the three of us (me, Nickeen and San) went to Wedding Bells to rent a coat. Last Thursday, we went back to Wedding Bells to get our coats and I bought my long-sleeved polo. Finally, it ended last Friday. It was when I bought new pair of socks, a pair of slippers for the after-prom activities and other necessities.

The preparations costed me a lot. For those two weeks of prom preparations excluding other trips within those weeks, I spent a lot for more than ten taxi rides. Add the numerous times I ate at KFC and Greenwich. Really costly!

The Prom Night

The prom night was fun. Before the event formally started, me and my partner Andrea Arquiza decided to have a photograph of ourselves. Our group didn’t have a disastrous Grand March as it always happened during the practices. The class dance was also not that disastrous cause I was expecting worse. I felt guilty before the dance cause I was the one of the people who were always absent during the practices. Hopefully, it was perfect.

The “Last Will” of us, Seniors, to the Juniors was nice. Kiboy Tabada made sure that each one of us realize that we are soon leaving the corridors where we always tambay. It actually made a lot of us teary-eyed, but not me. Some even told me that they were stopping their tears from falling as it might ruin their make-ups.

The “Class Prophecy” made by the Juniors was also nice. They made a story of our batch after ten years. It was projected on a wide white screen. On the story line they prepared, I was a commercial plane pilot. I was a really successful pilot who still manages to fly despite of bad weather (that’s bad!). Everything was perfect until… the presentation was confronted by technical problems. Jenn Gargar, the narrator, had to do some adlibs (tama ba?). She ended up putting the blame on “me” (Conrad Miguel E. Gozalo after ten years). She narrated that the plane was crashing! Damn, it ruined my reputation as a pilot. It was also lame since the plane already landed on Ching Island. How could a plane on the tarmac crash? It’s possible but I’m not going to be that bad if ever I’d be a pilot. Anyway, I can’t afford to enroll in a flying school.

The last part of the program were the dances. It was a disaster (yes, I’m still using that word). I was asking myself, am I in a bar? Honestly, I did not find the playlist suitable for prom dances. Okay, I’d rather stop talking about it. Ooops, before I forget my last dance was Mariel Betaizar, my schoolmate since Grade 2. She is also my internshipmate.

The Aftermath

After the prom, we went straight to Linmarr Apartelle. We rented a big room. There were more than 15 of us inside a good-for-six room. Hahaha, just like last year. We had a lot of food. Some of us (me, Joyce and San) managed to leave the room to take a walk.

We walked from Linmarr to Agdao Public Market. Then went straight the Dacudao road, the Roxas-like road. We walked and walked until we reached Davao Light, then Victoria Plaza, then we managed to stop at McDo. We ate at McDonalds then left immediately after taking a picture of ourselves there. After that, we walked to GMall and tried to locate Metro Avenue. I heard it was just behind GMall, and it really was behind GMall. After we found the place, we decided to go to The Venue to find some batchmates. We didn’t see any batchmate there but instead some two Juniors. We with the Juniors walked to Marco Polo where the three of us visited some of our batchmates. The security of the hotel was doubtful of our faces so they questioned us a lot. After the Marco Polo trip, we rode a taxi back to Linmarr.

When we reached Linmarr, a lot of guys (and girls) were already drunk. I did not like it, no offense. They were like transforming to beasts! Hahaha. I promised myself not to drink, mabait ako eh. I slept at about 5am, after talking to some batchmates.

Then, the END. I’m tired of typing. Bye!
