The Smart Bro Experience
Smart Bro is a wireless internet service provided by Smart Telecommunications, one major player in the Philippine mobile services arena.
Smart Bro connections differ in two types: the fixed antenna and modem usually installed above the house and the USB 3.5G modem, the more handy and truly mobile option.
I happened to use the second type, the USB 3.5G modem, which is actually capable of using 2G (the old-school voice and text), GPRS, EDGE, 3G and 3.5G (HSDPA) signals. I borrowed the 3.5G modem from a high school classmate. I tested the connection at Kalayaan Residence Hall of University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City Philippines.
Specifically, I used Smart Bro’s service in my room which is located on the basement and at the newly renovated lobby. First off, I’ll discuss my internet experience on my room.
Smart Bro @ the basement of Kalayaan Residence Hall
The connection was virtually dead even if it was connected to Smart’s servers. A high school batchmate earlier reported that she can’t connect to the Internet. The inner geek in me went out and suspected the DNS server to be the culprit. I switched to OpenDNS and tadaaa, it worked.
The big question is: how about the unknowledgeable public that doesn’t even have an idea on DNS servers?
Yes, it was insane. I swiftly browsed my way to speedtest.net, my favorite speed test website. I tested on the nearest server, BayanTel server in Quezon City, Philippines. The ping time was 571ms (too high), 78 kbps (kilobits per second) download rate and 30 kbps upload rate. This means that the connection is just nearly 40% faster than the 56kbps dialup connection for download and a bit behind a dialup’s usual upload rate.
Then I tried to access my email, open my blog’s administration panel and the usual websites I visit. It was crappy slow — our home dialup Internet was still a lot faster. It was really the biggest crap in the world — a “broadband” Internet slower than a narrowband dialup connection. — deleted, too harsh.
Smart Bro sucks [ sucked at my room ]. Smart Bro is Smart Broken.
I was not convinced and so I unleashed the adventurous side of me. I stood up on the ledge of my bed, held the laptop on one hand and the 3.5G modem on the other. Tested the speed and tadaa, yielded a 563ms ping time (a very little bit faster than the previous normal scenario), 162 kbps download rate and 31 kbps upload rate. Still very disappointing since you still have to risk yourself from falling down with a laptop to obtain the speed. Another downside of this is that you can’t type on the keyboard unless you have a third set of hands.
Smart Bro, for the second time, sucked! Smart Bro is Smart Broken.
Smart Bro @ Lobby of Kalayaan Residence Hall
The lobby is situated on the first floor, higher than the basement. I tested its speed but still got very disappointing results at 543ms ping time, 204 kbps download rate and 42 kbps upload rate. The actual Internet connection was sluggish and was not consistent. A number of instances that the connection goes dead for quite a time and restores itself back to momentum unexpectedly.
For other freshmen living in Kalayaan Residence Hall, I advise you that Smart Bro is not a good choice [unless they do a system enhancement of the 3G signal in the area]. I suggest that you avail the free DilNet wifi at the U.P. Computer Center located right in front of Ipil Residence Hall, EnggLib2/CS Building and other DilNet hotspots. [ I suggest you avail of the free DilNet wifi at the lobby. ] Internet speed [ of DilNet Wifi ] usually ranges from 3 to 4 mbps download and upload rate (40ms ping time) on peak hours and 6 up to 10 mbps on nonpeak hours. A drawback of using DilNet is that it is filtered. Game sites, social networking sites and streaming sites are blocked at most times of the day (semi-allowed domains) while porn, gambling and illegal sites are prohibited at all times.
Conclusion
As for conclusion, Smart Bro is a crappy bad Internet choice for Kalayaan Residence Hall residents unl. Smart Bro sucks! Similar reports and blog entries on Smart Bro on other areas area also evident and widespread in the world wide web — thus safe to conclude that the Kalai experience is not an isolated case.
Smart Bro sucks, on the said area.
Here’s an interesting review of why Smart Bro really Sucks by Jehzlau. And also, I would like to share a list of the Best ISPs (Internet Service Providers) in the Philippines.

Thanks for that review about Smart bro. It’s timely as I’m scouting for appropriate internet service in our residence and I’m not familiar with this “computer” things.
Good luck to your studies…. I was a resident of Kalayaan (B-23) way back in 1979-80.

wow. you’re also a big fan of speedtest.net. same here.
i agree with the bandwidth you measured at the DilNet wifi. mind boggling yung speeds!

first month of subscription and yes!!! 7 times slower than dial up! hooray for smart! im sick and tired of the insufficient CSRs that always tells me to do those redundant troubleshooting procedure.. the installers that checked my connection were very useless, how can a refresh thingy on desktop fix a slow connection?can anybody answer me? lol
anyways, i really DON’T recommend smartbrokeband, if you will subscribe, it’s just like committing suicide…

I have no reasons to disagree. I wrote a post too related with Smartbro’s service and in some ways I was really disappointed.

I found out na ung range ng antenna ko is ni-limit lang nila. Two miles lang ung nakita ko nung una, ang range is 1-30miles so ginawa kong 30 miles. Yunn ang bilis na! Download speed is 349kbps upload is 271kbps. Pa reconfigure niyo. Pa check niyong mabuti.

You’re all true, Smart Bro is really the worst internet. Aside of being mabagal, madalas pang nawawala ang connections.
This happened a couple of days, two months lang na di ako nakapgbayad pero pinadalhan na ako ng demand letter from CMMS Services, Inc. and amounting to P 1792.78 yun balance ko.
Bakit sila ganun? Are they connected to smartbro para ganun sila?

I am married and have traveled to several places with my husband. I have used different ISPs and Smart Bro comes last on my list of performance. Sometimes there is a non existents connection in the Province of Dipolog. I did a
pingspeed test and had an average from about 16kbps download to 120kbps which is no where near what I am paying for and that doesn’t include the days when it says limited or no connection.Calling them is a waste of time as the lines are ALWAYS busy so I did try the Smart Bro Quick Fix. I had a connection until I used it to check it out, then it told me there was no connection between my computer and the antenna. My husband who was a British naval computer engineer simply restored the settings and I tried again and the same thing happened. Obviously the software they provide is as bad as the service. Eventually I did get through to complain, but was informed by the engineer there was a connection so it was my computer’s fault. My husband started laughing at this realizing the engineer was a total idiot and not a SMART-minded engineer.
Eventually it reconnected all by its self, but the speed is still useless. So if you are considering using it for a business, then consider another service because you will never get an engineer to check the system for you with ease. And if he does, its a rare experience here.
Maybe its just Dipolog and the surrounding area that gets no customer service.
I hope for the rest of you that you don’t have to suffer the same frustrating conditions of smart bro…ken

Never even mind to call their technically-adik support number. You could even get shouted by these nasties. SmartBroken is virtually the most stupid internet service in the whole wide world, milking their poorly serviced consumers. Their 3G service is the worst. For your info, those 3G cards are made by ZTE-China, di ba yun yung company na nanuhol kay Abalos, kaya nagkaroon ng ZTN-NBN Deal Scandal.

SO TRUE. SEE BELOW LETTER RECENTLY SENT TO SMART! OBVIOUSLY, THEY HAVE NOT REPLIED YET.
TO: SMART
I am taking my chances that my email will be read, taken note of and hopefully be addressed. I had my share of bad experiences with companies such as PLDT and any of its affiliations like Smart.
My husband and I have been very disappointed with the service rendered by SmartBro and its contractors. We subscribed to your P999/month package less than a month ago. While we acknowledge the immediate action of installing the connection, what we are very disappointed about is the service provided after the installation.
The problem started when we experienced either a low signal connection or no connection at all a week after the installation. At least 3-4 calls were made to your technical team and we were just instructed via phone to modify our laptop. Thus, ending up with negative results. Given the lack of diligence and 100% assistance, we have decided to terminate the account despite the lock-out term. A termination notification was relayed to your hotline number and your representative instructed us to proceed to the branch where we applied for a line and personally inform them of the intended termination.
We visited your branch in Festival Mall and informed your frontliner of our intention. Yet, he was able to persuade us to have it checked with your technical contractor, “BPT”. We again gave Smart another chance. Thus, below is the sequence of events which I hope you will take note of and immediately address:
1. We visited your Festival Mall branch on a weekend and your frontliner instructed us to wait for the call of your contractor, BPT, on Monday (Oct 27).
2. Monday (Oct 27) arrives, no call was received from BPT. A call by SmartBro was made on Oct 29 (Wednesday) to check if BPT has addressed our concern. A new schedule was set for BPT Technical’s visit on November 1 (Saturday) 10 am.
3. Saturday (Nov 1) arrives, again no one from BPT arrived. We ensured that our day will be spent at home given the agreed schedule. At 7 pm, my husband and I finally decided to leave the house due to a scheduled dinner.
4. Sunday (Nov 2) – A SmartBro representive calls us to check our feedback once again. A clear yet stern message was relayed given that the schedule agreed upon were not observed by Smart. Your customer service representative tried to explain that BPT arrived on November 1, 6 pm, but no one was home. May I reiterate that the agreed time on Nov 1 was 10 am! Should your contractor have arrived at 6 pm, they should have contacted us via text, celphone or landline. Besides, all these contact details have been submitted to Smart.
5. Monday (Nov 3) – My husband was finally able to schedule a technical visit with your contractor on Nov 4, 7pm.
6. Tuesday (Nov 4) – Your contractor arrived on time. They were 5 men who arrived (headed by JONG). Upon arrival, they immediately explained aggressively that they came on Nov 1 at 2 pm and waited until 4 pm. If you refer to item # 4, your representative stated that the contractor arrived at 6 pm. Thus, I told your contractor that we should have been informed via text or call. Yet,they continued giving reasons such as:
1) NO LOAD. The load that they are using is from their own pockets.
2) TIPS given to them by SmartBro customers are too small. The previous customer gave them only P100 which will be split between the 5 of them.
3) SMARTBRO AGENTS commit schedules without properly coordinating with them. Thus, they are the ones who face the angry customers.
4) They only have ONE SERVICE VEHICLE. With this, how can they manage customers at the same time.
5) Salary is too SMALL.
With all their complaints, I became very uneasy and unsafe with these men around. Moreover, they had the guts to ask this question . . .”MAM, MAY HAPUNAN BA?” . . . To address their question, I gave them P300 . . . Apparently, the P300 is not enough. Towards the end, they requested for more tips which I did not agree to anymore.
The connection is working so far. But if this is the service that we are paying for, it’s simply NOT WORTH IT.

Grabe ang Smart. Nagreport ako last November 2 (Sunday) na may problema ang connection ko, their technician check the connection only last Thursday (Nov 6) tapos maulan daw so umalis din sila kasi hindi magagawa dahil madulas sa bubong, then pumunta ulit sila ng Friday (Nov 7) pero umalis ulit kasi hindi daw nila alam ang passwork ng laptop.
Saturday (Nov
they again checked the Internet connection and concluded the the problem is on the Smart base station and they they again committed to check the unit the following day.

I honestly don’t know how they get away with selling this crap, it truly is an exercise in frustration :/
December 11, 2008 at 1:07 pm
Wow, i’m about to buy smart bro pero nagdadalawang isip na ko. Ano ba yan dilemma nanaman over smart-bro or globe visibility. But my brother said that smart bro has a good connection over rizal which is my province…
December 16, 2008 at 6:31 pm
ako din I was planning to buy Smart Bro… Can you tell me how it compares to Globe infinity? Globe user kasi ako ever since but now their WAP service absolutely sucks. SO I was thinking of buying Smart instead of Globe..
December 17, 2008 at 11:39 am
I agree. I have the same experience both with Smart Bro and Globe Visibility
December 17, 2008 at 11:45 am
Both of Globe and Smart suck. They are liable for damages for false advertisement and wide scale (nation wide) Fraud.
December 22, 2008 at 9:09 am
Is this really the money were paying 4?
December 27, 2008 at 9:38 pm
Wow..sana I made a research first before buying this kit..My gosh,..I’m a victim again of false advertisement..”mas mabilis”..grabe nga!..mabilis kang mainis at ma highblood. Smart Management are just ignoring customers complaints maybe as it seemed millions already are complaining but until now they couldn’t find solution for the customers to be satisfied..Its just really a waste of money and time.
December 28, 2008 at 7:52 pm
Well, globe wireless broadband (plan) also sucks (bigtime). I’m using it for about 2 months now and the speed is terrible sometimes it cannot open a single website. I also have a smartbro prepaid kit, which doesn’t work (anymore). Globe and smart sucks.
By changing your MTU settings you will gain only about 5-10% improvement, not that much of an increase in performance.
December 29, 2008 at 3:26 pm
May worst experience din ako with SB. Nawalan ako ng connection after kong magbayad last November. I called the CS and informed them of the problem, according to them may internal problem daw sila sa system kaya hindi nila ma-activate yung account ko, naputulan ako that time at nagbayad para bumalik ang connection ko. anyway, naghintay ako sa return call nila kasi yun ang pangako nila sa akin. So tawag na naman ako para humingi ng tulong sa kanila, they guide me on what to do but no avail of getting back my connection, sabi ng tech baka daw yung LAN card ko ang may problem. I asked them to check my antenna first, send some contractor to ensure na hindi yung antenna nila ang sira. 3 weeks akong naghintay 4 times a week akong tumawag requesting for their service nicely hanggang sa napuno na rin ako at sinisigawan ko na sila sa phone, I don’t usually yell at someone esp. Customer Service people kasi I have the same work as them pero nakakapika yung palagi na lang akong paaasahin. finally they visited me last Dec 13…and guess what, yung antenna nila ang may problema. They changed all the set; cable, antenna and the adapter.
Kung meron lang akong choice na magiba ng ISP I will defo not prolong my subscription with SB but since I live in a remote area, they’re the only company who can give me a connection.
January 2, 2009 at 6:23 pm
EL TERIBLE tlaga ang SmartBro! SMARTBRO is definitely NOT a SMART choice. In fact I noticed that 2 months ago halos wla aq connection every holidays and weekends and I’m prompted to call their TSR na scripted na lng ang mga dialogues…kesyo my system maintenance or upgrading daw sila sa base station nila – na hindi naman namin nararamdaman na nag-iimprove ang service nila kundi ngiging WORST lng. Pag nag-open aq ng PC q earlier than 10am e wla aq conection mdalas at nakaka-ilang restart din aq ng PC q at napapansin q lng na pagdating ng 10 am or past 10 aq nagkakaron ng connection. So parang hindi UNLIMITED yung plan 999 q.

Hi, i got smart bro since oct. and so far ok naman ang connection ko. i did run a test on speedtest.net and results say:
first test: 475kbpsdown 267kbps up ping 136ms
second test: 403kbps down 287kbps up ping 151ms
third test: 588kbps down 278kbps up ping 151ms
average speed is 488kbps down 277kbps up ping 146ms
these test has been done around 2pm in the afternoon, weather is sunny after a slight rain around 12nn. Jan 7, 2009. Location is Banaba, San Mateo Rizal. Sa residence namin in a one kilometer radius may 7-15 est. smart bro subs, all residencial houses, max three floor houses…
what im trying to explain is, efficiency of the smart bro connection can be attributed to the line of sight and distance of the canopy to the nearest wireless tower, interferences, physical barriers, the likes… well im not too knowledgable about the whole connection, but thats what i have observed, my connection to some of my friends, comparing my location to theirs. I dont know how far i am from nearest tower, but our residence is a two-floor house, canopy is on a 20ft tube on top of our house, makes it the highest canopy in my location.
Siguro it really depends on the location. kung masyado kang malayo, masyadong crowded ang location, too may physical barriers, you’re out of luck, dont get smart bro.
Isang hinaing ko lang, is i dont get much play time sa gg client, mataas daw ang ping time ko… if someone there can easily play dota with gg client, na walang problema sa ping time… id like to know ur isp, magpapalit ako after i finish my contract with smart. but as of now, browsing is ok, torrent is ok, ( i actually finished a 12gb battlestar galactica torrent in one week ) online gaming looks good ( i play air rivals and project torque and rarely becoz of the ping time, dota ) i hope that gives u more insight bout the issue. thanks for the space. any comments shoot me an email gamedex@gmail.com
January 8, 2009 at 11:14 pm
too bad for you guys. ive been smartbro user since december 2006. wala naman naging problema. maganda ang service, connection, etc. mula nun naging subscriber ako, isang beses lang nagkaron ng aberya (nun nagtanggal sila ng base station kase gagawin na daw private).
January 23, 2009 at 2:46 pm
Smart Bro is the worst! internet broadband connection with (download speed of 10kb/s) and (upload speed of 1kb/s) mabilis pa ang dial-up na may bilis na (56kb/s download speed) and (upload speed of 15kb/s) minsan wala pang connection ang smart, smart bro is not a smart choice. mag globe broadband nalang kayo o kaya digitel. hindi rin totoo na “384kbps” ang smart bro, kahit nung una palang itong nilagay samin mabagal na, mga 45kb/s ang download speed. pero nung ilang buwan na ang nakakalipas mas mabagal pa ito! nasisiyahan narin sana ako sa “45kb/s” pero ngayon talagang napakabagal. sana mabasa ito ng mga tiga “smart communication” ng malaman nila kung gaano kapalpak ang system nila…
February 8, 2009 at 2:28 pm
Much like many of you I was also disappointed with smart bro, but now that disappointment has turned into anger when several months after I requested for the termination of my smart bro account, I find out that they failed to terminate it and are now billing me for a few months of service which was not used.

Wow, dami pla talaga nagrereklamo sa Smart Bro… Too bad guys, hindi accurate yung ina-advertise nila na nationwide coverage. Dito sa lugar namin sa Banaba, San Mateo Rizal, reception is ok. Nagtanong-tanong ako kung ok ba yung service ng smart bro nla bago ako kumuha. Actually yung ksama ko sa compound ang nagsabi na ok naman ung service nila so i got one. As i’ve said on my last post, depende tlaga sa lugar. As I am typing these message, my download speed on speedtest.net is 357kbps, upload is 136kbps, ping time is 189ms. I started a 16gig torrent last thursday and i am now 33.8% done. A word of advice, ask muna kayo sa lugar nyo kung maganda ang smart bro service dyan, and check kung maganda ung installation ng canopy nyo, hindi porket 2 or 3 floors and house nyo, eh pwede nang ikabit sa 2ft tube ang canopy, like my installation, 2 floors ang bahay ko, and i got a 20ft tube sa bubong ko where my canopy is, and also make sure na hindi maalog ung tube nyo, pag umaalog ang canopy, slowspeed ang labas nyan, or dropping connection.
February 12, 2009 at 10:46 pm
Ilang days na ako sa sobrang bagal no connection kapag tatawag naman ako sa hotline nila all they can say is just WAIT for the feedback of technical support within 24 hours. Peste! ni hindi ako naka receive ng feedback ni minsan sa loob ng 24 oras kaya nag follow up ulit ako at eto pa nung tumawag ako ayun ulit anohh walang katapusan na tanong anong system requirements ko ano ba operating system ko? at lahat na ata eh tinanong ng paulit ulit kabuwisit lang talaga!! eh ang point ko is so slow connection not my the operating system or my own pc kasi mabilis naman ang problem is yung connection ng smartbro! tapos sisihin nila yung computer ko kasi baka daw mabagal?? helloo????mabilis ang computer ko ever since! At eto pa guys naloka ako dahil need ko daw ireformat ang pc kasi daw baka may virus???hayyy buwisit talaga alam ba nila it takes time to reformat at the same time i have project na kelangan ko matapos so kung uunahin ko mag reformat baka di ako umabot sa deadlines ko!! buwisit lahat nalang dinahilan nila..i have good anti virus and updated daily and make full scan and no virus found on my system!! walang hiya talaga! kapag natapos lang ang lock in period ko mapapalit nako ng intenet provider!! MGA WALANG ENTA NA SERVICE!!
February 19, 2009 at 10:02 am
hi there! i had a cousin who used to curse tinawag nilang “smarbro-ken” aside from their subscription is locked for a year sabi nya “sayang lang ang pera sa walang kuwentang connection”, and anotehr reason is that there was no telephone facilities yet in their area, kaya he has no choice pagtiyagaan. A friend of their’s offered a sample of somewhat like a canopy or dish they call reflector?…am not sure of the term, had them installed together with smartbro antenna. from then i never heard any complaint from my cousin concerning their connection. ngayon he is helping his friend promoting the dish. check out http://www.roughclaw.com they might help you with your problems
February 28, 2009 at 6:17 pm
March 11, 2009 at 8:37 pm
Pangit talaga ang Smart Bro este… Smart Broke. In my case, nagkakaroon lang ng internet connection pag gabi. Kapag umaga na, walng connection hanggang hapon… ¬_¬
March 13, 2009 at 9:07 am
Yes I am back here again!
Since the last time in October they have come out once after many complaints. I told then a tree branch had pulled the wire from the canopy and I still had to go through the routine of pulling the power supply and re connecting it. Are they totally stupid? The engineer seemed surprised there was no connection even I explained the plug had broken away from the canopy. I’m not sure Dipolog has any intelligent engineers anymore.
Anyway it only took 4 weeks of complaint to actually get them to come out and fix it and no mention of compensation for the non connection time due to then not fixing it. It worked great for 6 days, then is went slower, a few days slower and now almost non existent. Called them yet again with no success! We called into the Dipolog office and was promised they would call within 24 hours, 24 hours past with no one calling and the phone with me all the time. I waited another week and called again. There was no apology and told someone would call once again, but as you can guess no call. Anger is now starting to grow because we have no static phone line in Polanco which is just outside of Dipolog. Eventually after some raised words on the phone I was directed to an engineer who started by telling me to pull the power supply and so on. I explained I had a connection, but it was so SLOW! It timed out every time my husband tried to open outlook express mail and you could take a shower while waiting for it to open a webpage.
I was told that the computer had a virus and what asked what anti virus did I use, obviously to try to push the blame for the bad connection onto us. First of all my husband uses 2 computer of which both have anti virus and the 2nd one being totally reformatted and used for running test and not normally connected to the internet to ensure its totally virus free, but on connection it’s the same (SO SLOW). Eventually the engineer did something and it started working again, it was still slow, but faster than it was and making it usable to get the mail. I could now get to a page up within 2 minutes, which believe it or not seemed fast. This high speed for slowbro didn’t last, 3 days after we are back to where it was before very, very slow or non existent. Now the connection is on and off every couple of minutes making it totally useless. We tried the connection with a friends computer and couldn’t even get it to login. We took the laptop to an internet and tried it with an excellent connection. We have done Slowbo’s work for them and proved its server side and not our computer, but have now totally given up with them. I know globe has a bad reputation too, but it can’t be this bad. We will give it a try now, because we can’t be bothered anymore.
IF you are thinking to use Smartbro, PLEASE READ ALL THE COMPLAINTS! People are making these complaints because the technical and customer service is almost non existent. It can work but rarely does. Only the lucky few seem to escape problems. Reading the previous comment from pcjz, I can believe it takes a bribe to get a good job done, but why should anyone have to do this when we pay for a service that a company cant provider adequately. I am a very angry customer yet I always used to be calm. If you want high blood pressure and a heart attack GET SMARTBRO.
March 14, 2009 at 9:50 pm
YOU HAVE TO LAUGH
How can a company be so stupid? If you try to call Smartbro, you will often flatten your phone battery by the time you get a connection. If you go to one of the centers to talk to customer service a stressed customer service rep will try her or his best to tell you they will contact you within 24hr, but of course this doesn’t often happen and if it does its often 2 weeks before anything is done.
Once again I have an almost non existent internet speed, though it work fine plugged into Globe!
I decided the only way to show my anger was to email customer service direct. I got the email address and sent the message with some strong words of encouragement. About 2 hours later owing to the very slow connection that was not virus related, which Smartbro would insist was the reason I managed to open it.
This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.
A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:
customercare@smart.com.ph
SMTP error from remote mail server after initial connection:
host smtp5.smart.com.ph [203.84.189.133]: 554-inbounda1.smart.com.ph
554 Your access to this mail system has been rejected due to the sending MTA’s poor reputation. If you believe that this failure is in error, please contact the intended recipient via alternate means.
WHAT ALTERNATIVE MEANS? It was the same from a different email address and it was using slowbro’s connection also.
Now I have heard everything! What a totally useless company
If you are really thinking of using this service, PLEASE consider you may need psychiatric treatment first, because no sane person would use such a load of total crap. I have used many ip in different countries, but never one so poor as this.

March 31, 2009 at 2:13 pm
@itut0308
Tama sinabi mo.
April 2, 2009 at 2:42 pm
hindi lang smart ang mabagal mas mabagal pa ang globe!! sa globe 15mins bago maka connect ang yahoo messenger. another 15 mins to login to your email. another 15mins to open the inbox another 15mins to read your email so by the time you think your done ubos na 1hour na load mo.
April 3, 2009 at 2:01 pm
April 7, 2009 at 4:38 pm

April 17, 2009 at 9:43 am

Hope Smart Bro business service will be down soon.!
April 17, 2009 at 1:38 pm
sa mga smartbro canopy user:
I’m not a fan of smartbro pero ano pa magagawa nyo kung naka contract na kayo sa kanila. Simple…improve your connection.
Don’t expect “them” to do it for you. They are busy sa pagpagpalawak ng sakop nila na customer.
Its all in your hands.
One: Ticker with your canopy antenna (though its illegal pero di naman nila malalaman kaya di illegal
two: Improve your physical connection.
e.g. refelector..pwede kayo mag DIY pero mas maganda
naka design talaga sa canopy. May Pacwireless(US)
na refelctor. May nabibili rin dito sa pinas
check nyo na lang http://www.roughclaw.com
three: give up your smartbro and look for a better ISP.
April 19, 2009 at 8:35 pm
I agree with wirelespinoy… since i got SB, once pa lng ako nagkaroon ng major problem, ( for others this might be a daily occurence ) nag down ang isang wireless sites sa location namin in San Mateo… causing my connection to drop from regular 340-400++ kbps to 20-30kbps. That happened around mid Feb, but was fixed 24hrs. after my call to one of their TSR. Up to now, no problems.
If online gaming is your stuff, SB is NOT up for the task. get a hardline DSL for gaming. msyadong mataas ang ping times ng SB, magla-lag msyado ang game mo.
Sabi nga ni wirelesspinoy, improve your connection. Kung masyado kang malayo sa wireless tower ng SB, kung too crowded ang lugar nyo ( madami buildings nearby,) or madaming puno, masyadong mahangin… DONT GET SMART BRO. Kung meron na kayo, the best that you can do is to place the canopy as high as possible, hindi porket 2 or 3 floors ang bahay nyo, eh ilalagay mo lang sa isang 2ft. tube ang canopy nyo, use a tube to put up the canopy as high as you can, 15-25ft tube will do, the higher the better. and make sure hindi aalog-alog ang tube para iwas slow speed, iwas dropping connection.
About reflectors, i never needed one anyway but if that helps improve your SB connection, go ahead. It will make the connection stable, it will make your connection speed hit the right mark, which is around 350kbps to 500kbps on off peak hours, but thats it. Dont expect too much. Mag research kayo sa google about the reflector dish to know more.
April 19, 2009 at 10:17 pm
Forgot the X on my name… hehe… Just wanna make it clear, im no Smart bro fan, I still CANT play DoTA on GGclient, nor MUonline. After my contract with SB, im switching ISP. Just making the most out of my SB connection for now.
April 22, 2009 at 10:36 pm
Sorry wrong link, here is the correct one, medyo taas ng ping time ko ngayon than usual, i usually get around 100-110ms, 500+ sya ngaun, but as far as browsing is concerned, i cant see any slowdown.
April 22, 2009 at 10:37 pm
Grrr. I forgot the link again, stupid me

Oh one more thing to add, may nkita kasi ako sa lugar namin in San Mateo Rizal na medyo mali ung pagkakalagay ng SB Canopy nya sa bubong nya. Yup its high, yup its stable, but… its not facing the direction of the nearest wireless tower sa lugar namin, and as it turned out, ang bagal ng connection nya. Ibang tech yung nagkabit ng smart bro canopy nila. So check also kung yung mga canopy nyo is actually facing the nearest wireless tower in your area. Cheers!
April 26, 2009 at 9:27 pm
Reading the negative reviews on SmartBro — my modem is prepaid — which suits me fine because I’m only living in the Phil 6 months out of the year…I click connect and within (3 to 5 min of the modem catching a signal, it’s connected) my only problem so far heen that I can’t seem to get the right SMTP server settings (tried everything that I’ve read on the forums)plus SmartBro’s modem blocks my Shaw webmail so I can’t access my email account from where I am…
I am not at that point where I should be calling it DumbBro…it’s not gotten to a retarded state yet (although that seems to be the general consensus) ….it’s been my experience that companies like Globe and Smart always try their best to make the paying public suffer in some measure. (Something to do with making the most buck at the yours and my expense)
Incidentally, my ISP (Shaw Cable, is the best ISP in the country (we’re talking 100 mbps, dudes — no shit)this is serious broadband speed) even at peak hours when little Johnny comes home from school and downloads porn…
May 4, 2009 at 7:33 pm
e tanga pala kau e, bat kc ung modem type ang binili nyo, dnman stable ang cgnal nun, you all suck like smartbro do!

May 27, 2009 at 10:08 am
my problem with SmartBro is not with the signal as this is very clearly explained by them.
My first problem was automatic disconnection even though i still have a balance good for 30 minutes more. at least this was addressed after many months and after sentiments and heartaches I have suffered.
Now my SmartBro suddenly cannot conect for no apparent reason. Bringing it to Smart Center only elicit the comment that my SmartBro cannot be read anymore!
Just that??!!! purchase barely a year at P4,500.00 and treated as if I was complaining about a P1.00-plastic toy?
Please help me find a way to protect my interest on this.
This is certainly very very very unfair… if not outright immoral.
May 29, 2009 at 11:35 pm

Smart bro does not really sucks. I’m the living proof, I’ve tried Tattoo already, and comparing them, the tattoo sucks more. I really don’t know why people think that smart bro sucks, I remember a friend, he was gonna buy the smart bro prepaid kit, his classmates told him not to, because of this and that, but those people don’t actually use any wireless ISPs! They suck! They misjudge services and products. Therefor affecting the impression of the people towards smart bro. If my words are not enough, how about these videos I found in youtube?

July 18, 2009 at 2:49 pm
“I was not convinced and so I unleashed the adventurous side of me.
Smart Bro is Smart Broken.” quoted form conrad’s entry…
That might be your experience, but mine was… Smart does not sucks and broken in my room. What you did looked really awful and funny, cant say anything more. Haha

July 24, 2009 at 8:08 pm
globe sucks. lets go with smartbro instead!
July 30, 2009 at 11:55 am
broadband services in the phils really suck! i started out w/ globe. it worked like a dial up…i mean literally. moved to smart hoping that it would be a better connection. some friends said smartbro is better…smart works just the same…intermittent connection…so slooowww. technical support is even worse. they have you unplug blah blah blah. nothing works. pitiful filipino consumers. we don’t have much choice.
October 27, 2009 at 9:41 pm

November 12, 2009 at 6:17 pm
smartbro suits my broadband world. I have tried globe tattoo, and it really pissed me off. I switched to smartbro. The connection is not that bad as globe. There are down instances like slow connection due to typhoon.but it recovers immediately. not the best but certainly okay.

IBALIK NYO YUNG PERANG NASAYANG SAMIN!!!!

For that past nine days we have been snowed in. This has not been incredibly significantly fun as all seven kids can be found trapped from the house with me for a fantastic deal in the time. It has been too cold for them to stay out for any length of time. To add to that, our electric keeps going in and out. Whenever we do have electricity we charge the laptop battery. When the electricity goes out, we either play games, read or Get Free Diablo 2 Items Online. thanks to our generator. I’m glad we discovered the website where we can do this as it keeps every person occupied and quiet. I believe I miss the quiet most of all.

Income is extremely tight in my loved ones proper now so several extras have been eliminated from our budget. The very first issue to go was our cell phone plan and cable wasn’t far behind. At 1st I thought this would be a huge issue as my husband likes to watch sitcom re-runs. Yet, this hasn’t been a issue as he is capable to Get Free Diablo 2 Items Online. also as other favorites of his. I’m glad he found these as I do not want him to lose everything he loves. Thankfully, I am capable to write part of our World-wide-web fees off for my work so we didn’t have to get rid of that also. I imagine that would are already the final straw for him.
