The Horrible 8McDo (McDonalds) Experience

This issue was peacefully resolved. You can read my “To End the McDo Story” for more information!

8McDo logoYesterday, we, the graduating batch, had our graduation practices at school. Since the canteen servicing the school had already closed, we had to order food for our lunch from fast foods.

Some of my batchmates ordered at Jollibee, but our group decided to go for KFC. We tried ordering at KFC but they notified us that they can’t make it since they didn’t have any delivery boy for the day. So we ended up ordering at McDo.

Ordering Process (McDo)

I was the one who took care of the ordering process. I called McDo’s (McDonalds) hotline in Davao, 228McDo. I did not have to wait, there was a person on the phone right away. I gave my name, the school’s complete address and other necessary info such as contact number. Then, I dictated our orders to their Customer Service Representative (CSR). The CSR rechecked our order to make sure that there was no omission, addition or duplication in the order. Everything went well and promised us to have our order within an hour after the confirmation call of the McDo servicing branch to the contact number we provided.

It was exactly 12:17pm, about a minute after our 228McDo call, when the McDo servicing branch called us up for confirmation of our order. We confirmed it right away.

The Agony

Uhm, it was about 12:45pm when some people started complaining telling me that their hunger is already killing them. I told them to wait just a bit longer cause their promised one hour was still not over. Then, the bell rang. It was already 1pm and lunch break was over. Me and Beth Rosero decided not to attend the practice yet and wait for our order. By 1:17pm, one hour after the confirmation, the food still was not delivered. We bothered to still wait a ‘lil longer, and by 1:30pm, I tried following-up the order thru 228McDo Davao hotline.

The 228McDo CSR asked for my name and contact number. She saw on their records that the order was confirmed by 12:17pm and asked for apology for the inconvenience. Then, she told me that the servicing branch gave them no feedback yet on the order. She also asked me if the servicing branch asked for time extension after the confirmation and I replied negative.

After the call, we still bothered to wait even longer. Then by 2:30pm, I tried following it up for the second time. The CSR, again, rechecked for our order status and said that there still was no feedback yet from the servicing branch. Then I asked her which branch, and she told me it was McDo in Damosa. I asked the CSR if we can have our orders canceled. She contacted the servicing branch herself thru phone and told me that our order was still on the store. I got pissed cause after more than two hours of waiting, our food was still on the store. The CSR then confirmed if I was sure about the cancellation of our orders and I confirmed it right away without the consent of my other batchmates.

Refund Time

So there was no choice but to suffer from hunger caused by that damn McDonalds. I had to return their money one by one, and it was a strenuous chore considering I still haven’t ate a meal for the day.

Attempt to Complain

Out of anger, I tried my best to contact the said McDo branch, McDo Damosa. I called up 228McDo to have McDonalds customer service email, but they replied they did not have one. They asked me why I wanted to have it, and I told them that I wanted to complain. I also asked them McDo Damosa’s email address, but they told me that branches don’t have it too.

I ended up asking McDo Damosa’s telephone number. The CSR who attended to me gave it right away. I ended up the call with the CSR’s permission, and dialed McDo Damosa’s number.

It was Sir July, one of their managers according to him, who answered my call. I told him about the incident, and replied to me that there problem was that they only had one rider for the day. I asked him why we were not notified of the possible delay. 228McDo told me that in events like this, the servicing branch should ask the customer of time extension. He did not answer right away, it could be that he was somewhat overwhelmed by my slightly angry tone brought by my hunger. Then he answered that he still has to check on why we were not notified. He also told me that they haven’t anticipated the scenario and asked for apology.

He asked my full name, and I gave it and even spelled it out letter-by-letter. He asked for my contact number, and since I don’t have a mobile phone I gave him my email which I think he did not take note of. I told him that I’ll have to call him later.

McDo should have

  • notified us that our order would be delayed.
  • anticipated the situation.
  • not accepted our order at all.
  • had the nerves for people waiting for their not-so-good food.

That’s all for now. I’ll post follow-ups later.

Research Paper without a Spellchecker?

KeyboardIf I would to enumerate the things I’ve done in Pisay that I’m proud of, writing a research paper with two other groupmates (Boon and Tomi) without a grammar and spellchecker would be it. :D

I bet most people nowadays don’t care much when they hit a wrong key, the computer will correct it anyway. But in our case; we’ve been careful in hitting the keys – made sure that everything in the screen was right – pushed the backspace whenever we push the wrong keys and correct them.

Sounds lame, right? But I think it deserves to be written here.

There are still instances in life in which we have to lessen our technological dependence. These are instances in which our technologies fail. My only advice would be – be prepared. Always think of the unexpected. No one knows when your word processor’s spellchecker, grammar checker and AutoCorrect function would fail? It could be a minute from now, tomorrow, or while making your uber-important reports :D

Hahaha. Lame post. I’m writing this spontaneously from my unorganized brain. :D Good luck!

The Retreat

Background

Hey, we just had our one-and-a-half day retreat yesterday, and now it’s over. We had it at the Cursillo Retreat House of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Concepcion at F. Torres Street, Davao City.

A day before the retreat, final room assignments were announced. Rooms had an average of three occupants though there was one room with eight occupants and some with only two. I happened to be assigned in the room for two and my only roommate was Elikim.

We were not allowed to use our cellular phones throughout the course of the retreat, but it didn’t mind it since I don’t own one. Just like any batch retreat, strict rules and regulations are to be followed.

Assessment

PLACE. The place was wonderful. Seldom can you see a silent and solemn place in the middle of a busy metropolitan (near nighttime hangout places).

ROOM. Our room was the smallest room since there were only two beds (compared to other two-bed rooms, our’s was still a lot smaller) but it was nice. It was better than I expected it to be. My bed was soft and bouncy, while my pillow was as hard as a rock.

FOOD. The food was average, not that good and not that bad. But still, I managed to eat a LOT. Our table was the only table with no food left on the serving plates every after meal.

ACTIVITIES. Honestly, the activities were not that effective, it could have been better. I don’t feel any change in me after the activity. I think I share the same sentiments with my other batchmates. There were some (minimal) activities though which I enjoyed.

The Fun Activity

One of them was the time when everyone was invited to reconcile with enemies and thank friends. There were a little of us who wept, but I think I wept the most tears.

I wept after someone approached me and said either a sorry or a thank you. I can’t vividly remember it cause the moment she approached me, I froze for a while but I think it was more of a sorry.
If ever it was really a sorry, I’d be confused cause I find no reason for her to ask for forgiveness. I think I should have been the one who asked her forgiveness for all my not-so-bitter bitterness but if it was the latter, I’d gladly accept it and will thank her more in our last few days in Pisay. I’d thank her for everything she has done to me.

Up to now, I still can’t comprehend why I froze and wept. I think I was overwhelmed with happiness cause I did not expect it to happen. I have thought of apologizing and thanking her, but I did not have the enough courage. :( (more…)

97.80%: UPCAT Passing Rate of PSHSSMC Batch 2008

The Batch Ethereals (2008) of Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus in Davao City garnered a passing rate of 97.80% (89 out of 91) passing rate in the 2008 University of the Philippines College Admission Test (2008).

The said batch garnered the highest passing rate based on the five-year comparison blog released by the campus’ Guidance Unit.

Anyway, I’m one of the 89. Congrats to US!

Exams are over. Next in Line: Graduation.

Last Thursday was the last leg of our three-day final examinations, the last quarter exam in Pisay for us Seniors. For that, I’m rewarding myself a new Wordpress theme, made by me. Huhuhu.

Next in line is our graduation. I’m still not sure if I’ll graduate, but I think I’ll be. What is certain is that I’m leaving Pisay this school year, no more extensions.

This Monday will be the deadline of submission of grades of teachers. I’ll be seeing my grades by that time. I hope my previous-quarter Math 5 substandard grade would be lifted. :D

Now that my classes in Pisay are technically over, I’ll try shifting my focus to my blog; and my year-end clearance. I’m aiming for a 150% increase of average hits per day by April 24, 2008 from today’s statistics.

That’s all for now. My new WP theme is telling me to work on him. Err.

0218 Recollections

As you can see on one of my previous posts, I had an unproductive trip to the metro yesterday. It was a really stupid trip. Read that post and understand why.

It was stupid but I still had the guts to look at its positive side. It opened my eyes to the real world, the REAL ones.

In Pisay (I don’t know if this applies to all campuses but I’m sure it does; here in Pisay Davao), we have a so-called world. It’s not that I’m bragging, to tell you its not positive. We are given a perfect world where circumstances are controlled. Everything seems to be perfect. Everything seems to be fine and calm despite the stresses. When a person starts to get low grades, the teacher always comes to rescue. (more…)

My Supposed-to-be-Productive Trip

Hi.

I am writing these post in an Internet cafe near University of Mindanao Bolton. I’m in this place, a place far far away from school, cause I’m supposed to fix things up. Here are some of them:

  • Withdraw funds from my DBP account.
  • Deposit a part of the withdrawn cash to my UnionBank account.
  • Go to a nearby Internet cafe to download the parts we need for research.
  • Buy electronic components at Davao Times Trading Hardware.
  • Go to National Bookstore to buy stuff for my English and Math project.
  • Buy soap and shampoo at SM Supermaket.

After the jump is a narration of what happened on my wonderful trip. (more…)

Prom Preparations to Aftermath

Personal post. It’s kind of boring, promise!

We, the seniors, had our last JS prom last Friday at Grand Men Seng Hotel. Since it was our last prom, we really prepared for it. Even I who was tired of having the activity prepared for it.

Preparations

My prom preparations started two weeks ago. I borrowed a pair of formal shoes from my uncle. Then last week, the three of us (me, Nickeen and San) went to Wedding Bells to rent a coat. Last Thursday, we went back to Wedding Bells to get our coats and I bought my long-sleeved polo. Finally, it ended last Friday. It was when I bought new pair of socks, a pair of slippers for the after-prom activities and other necessities.

The preparations costed me a lot. For those two weeks of prom preparations excluding other trips within those weeks, I spent a lot for more than ten taxi rides. Add the numerous times I ate at KFC and Greenwich. Really costly! (more…)

The Networking Practicals

Ooops, my Marbel post is still under construction.

We just had our Networking Practical Exams. We were tasked to connect the routers, switches and PCs based on the topology given. We have to do the cabling from the power cords, Ethernet connections, serial connections to console part.

It was time pressured. We were only given 5 minutes to implement the topology. We did not finish all the connections, specifically the two power cords. It was fun, so much fun. I know I did the right thing, grace under pressure.

Hahaha. That’s all for now. Good luck Cisco, good luck to me.
