The Horrible 8McDo (McDonalds) Experience
Yesterday, we, the graduating batch, had our graduation practices at school. Since the canteen servicing the school had already closed, we had to order food for our lunch from fast foods.
Some of my batchmates ordered at Jollibee, but our group decided to go for KFC. We tried ordering at KFC but they notified us that they can’t make it since they didn’t have any delivery boy for the day. So we ended up ordering at McDo.
Ordering Process (McDo)
I was the one who took care of the ordering process. I called McDo’s (McDonalds) hotline in Davao, 228McDo. I did not have to wait, there was a person on the phone right away. I gave my name, the school’s complete address and other necessary info such as contact number. Then, I dictated our orders to their Customer Service Representative (CSR). The CSR rechecked our order to make sure that there was no omission, addition or duplication in the order. Everything went well and promised us to have our order within an hour after the confirmation call of the McDo servicing branch to the contact number we provided.
It was exactly 12:17pm, about a minute after our 228McDo call, when the McDo servicing branch called us up for confirmation of our order. We confirmed it right away.

List of Order
The Agony
Uhm, it was about 12:45pm when some people started complaining telling me that their hunger is already killing them. I told them to wait just a bit longer cause their promised one hour was still not over. Then, the bell rang. It was already 1pm and lunch break was over. Me and Beth Rosero decided not to attend the practice yet and wait for our order. By 1:17pm, one hour after the confirmation, the food still was not delivered. We bothered to still wait a ‘lil longer, and by 1:30pm, I tried following-up the order thru 228McDo Davao hotline.
The 228McDo CSR asked for my name and contact number. She saw on their records that the order was confirmed by 12:17pm and asked for apology for the inconvenience. Then, she told me that the servicing branch gave them no feedback yet on the order. She also asked me if the servicing branch asked for time extension after the confirmation and I replied negative.
After the call, we still bothered to wait even longer. Then by 2:30pm, I tried following it up for the second time. The CSR, again, rechecked for our order status and said that there still was no feedback yet from the servicing branch. Then I asked her which branch, and she told me it was McDo in Damosa. I asked the CSR if we can have our orders canceled. She contacted the servicing branch herself thru phone and told me that our order was still on the store. I got pissed cause after more than two hours of waiting, our food was still on the store. The CSR then confirmed if I was sure about the cancellation of our orders and I confirmed it right away without the consent of my other batchmates.
Refund Time
So there was no choice but to suffer from hunger caused by that damn McDonalds. I had to return their money one by one, and it was a strenuous chore considering I still haven’t ate a meal for the day.
Attempt to Complain
Out of anger, I tried my best to contact the said McDo branch, McDo Damosa. I called up 228McDo to have McDonalds customer service email, but they replied they did not have one. They asked me why I wanted to have it, and I told them that I wanted to complain. I also asked them McDo Damosa’s email address, but they told me that branches don’t have it too.
I ended up asking McDo Damosa’s telephone number. The CSR who attended to me gave it right away. I ended up the call with the CSR’s permission, and dialed McDo Damosa’s number.
It was Sir July, one of their managers according to him, who answered my call. I told him about the incident, and replied to me that there problem was that they only had one rider for the day. I asked him why we were not notified of the possible delay. 228McDo told me that in events like this, the servicing branch should ask the customer of time extension. He did not answer right away, it could be that he was somewhat overwhelmed by my slightly angry tone brought by my hunger. Then he answered that he still has to check on why we were not notified. He also told me that they haven’t anticipated the scenario and asked for apology.
He asked my full name, and I gave it and even spelled it out letter-by-letter. He asked for my contact number, and since I don’t have a mobile phone I gave him my email which I think he did not take note of. I told him that I’ll have to call him later.
McDo should have
- notified us that our order would be delayed.
- anticipated the situation.
- not accepted our order at all.
- had the nerves for people waiting for their not-so-good food.
That’s all for now. I’ll post follow-ups later.

same thing happened to us when we ordered at KFC G-Mall before. It took them two hours to have our orders delivered. Mind you, G-Mall is just a 3-minute walk from our school.
And for McDonalds, we didn’t get a good service at McDonalds Matina last Sunday. I think I should write about it as well.

this is actually the second bad experience we had at McDo. the first one involved a lot of confirmations from us, it almost felt like they were suggesting that we just cancel our order for they kept on asking if we were sure about our confirmation. even after we confirmed, they called once more asking us if they should deliver it already. after a long wait, we called them once more and next thing we knew, the csr that we talked to was from Manila so she still had to connect us to a branch here in Davao. they weren’t clear at all and an hour after our last confirmation has passed, with no delivery yet, we decided to cancel our order.

Yeah, McDo is a LOSER (to the max!!!) Byebye McDo.

In reality, stuff like this could happen to anyone. A demolition job on the Internet won’t stop people from eating there because they’re a fastfood joint and not a restaurant where flawless service is expected. I think the best you could have done was talk to the manager and demand that the delivery be made. When the food is delivered, simply don’t pay for it.

Actually Mik. Pag ganun, di niyo na dapat binabayaran. Di lang ako sigurado kung Jabee or McDo, pero pag lumampas ng 1hr at hindi pa dumating yung food, it’s considered free and may gift certificate ka na worth P200. I’m not sure if it applies there, but it does here. Kaya mabilis ang service dito. O well. Hamo na yan. Consider that as your last crappy encounter with McDo, iba ang McDo sa Manila. Gabi-gabi kami nagpapadeliver e. They have at least 5 delivery man.

pero ako miss ko ang type of service ng fastfood chains sa pinas, ngayon kasi nakakainis ang service dito sa canada. nasanay akong mabilis ang service kahit mahaba ang pila, mabagal ang service dito and wala pang delivery on most non-pizza restaurants. no 24 hrs service din on most fastfoods. wala lang naiinis ako kapag namimiss ko kumain jan
at walang SPAGETI ang mcdo dito at tsiken!!!!!

you cant actually say that its not 8mcdo’s fault or its the branch’s… bottomline is they are all representing mcdonalds. they lack coordination. this is based on my own experience.. for so many times the “8mcdo” has disppointed me and my friends. We call that hotline because we are hungry but busy.. ^^.. I just dont understand, Mcdonalds in El Pueblo is 5 minutes away from my office and they cant make it in 1hr….. what a service…
September 28, 2008 at 1:07 am
Haynako. I also had the same experience. I called 8-Mcdo for delivery through my cellphone which I loaded Php100 load denomination. Before, I had also used my phone for calling up orders and have them delivered at my condo unit. It was a relief they picked it up early pero nung tumagal na, I called them up and the CSR asked for irrelevant questions like if she wanted me to register as a regular 8-Mcdo member so that if I’m going to order next time, they won’t have trouble. Guess what, I didn’t have my order in the end and all of my load just became Php19.31 or something. It was horrible for loading another Php100 again (I load by whole to save time and effort). Even by phone, 8Mcdo sucks. The fries are quite sloppy and the sundae has already melted. I swore myself I won’t order from them again through my cellphone.
it was the most stupid thing I did. LOL. First impression never lasts.
October 11, 2008 at 2:15 pm
Hmm,i had also bad experience with mcdo. i called up and the food was not deliver for 1 hour and half. so i decided to send text to the number who called me up for confirmation of delivery. and decided to eat sandwich. anyway after that, i never called for delivery anymore with mcdo. and never ate mcdo since then. they dont have good food anyway. when it comes to chicken, all they got is a bone chicken, as in walang laman! matitinik ka pagkumain ka sa mcdo, di kagaya ng jollibee malaman at masarap ang chicken nila.

The website for Manila has been off line for weeks. McDonald’s management doesn’t seem to care.
October 21, 2008 at 11:32 am
I ordered from 8mcdo last sunday, Oct 19 2008, I called them up a an operator with speaking problem which is I dont know if she trying to sound cute but you could hardly understand what she was saying was very rude. I call mcdo for like 2-3 times a week for delivery at my house and there were other incidents other than what happened last sunday. She asked for my number, provided her with all the numbers that I use to call mcdo and told me that they have upgraded the system so they I should provide the details again. I informed her right away that I could not stay longer on the line because I only had a limited airtime for my cellphone. I provided her my number, complete address plus landmark and the branch that delivers my area. When she was about to verify I told her ‘ako nalang magsasabi, you check what you wrote there’ and while I was talking sinabayan niya ako then took my orders. Parang nanadya pa lalo and it seems like she wanted the maputol un tawag. I completed my orders and then she said the usual closing line nila. “thank you for calling 8mcdo, expect delivery with 30-45 mins” something like that then I hung up. Guess what! I was so angry at that time kasi we were so tired doing household chores the entire day starting 7am and 1st meal namen yun for the day, it was around 147pm. The last time naman delayed na yun order namen for almost 2 hours kami nagwait then pagdating kulang yun mga order so we had to wait for about an hour ulit and pagdating ng delivery walang gravy! o, san ka pa!

December 16, 2008 at 11:27 pm
waaah! Just had one bad experience with mcdelivery! I ordered on their website and filled all the necessary infos… I was certain that mcdo matina is open 24hours because I cn see it on their store with the gigantic “open 24 hours!” When i recvd the call, a lady(a little bit confused with something, i dont know) told me that the store is only open up to 10pm! Wat da…! So she apologized to me.I can’t do anything so I just put the line down. T_T
dba 24hours open cla? bakit hanggang 10pm lng?
I’ll give it a try for the second time tomorrow… Let’s see…hmm..

[...] I just want to share my experience with McDonalds Delivery service here in the Philippines, and I guess we are only the country where McDonalds have opened their house delivery. Ok, so much for that to start with few months ago, I think that was early May 2008 that me and my sister decided to eat since were hungry and it’s around 9:30 in the evening and so I just got to stumble on McDo Delivery’s Online Ordering System which is very interactive that is in flash based (of course for marketing and advertising purposes). And so we had made and place an order over that site and submit all things up. Then the servicing branch called up which is McDonalds Damosa, which is also the serving branch of the blogger who had made his order and create about his horrible experience with them which can be found here. [...]
February 12, 2009 at 7:43 pm
lesson learned…
after 30 minutes and still the order has not come, verify it with the MCDO, right away.
so could have avoided the 2 hours hunger pain and ordered in a different fast food.
February 15, 2009 at 6:51 pm
i’ve felt that earthqauke too!
Unlike before u get to order directly to the branch & in case u want to add up somethin u can easily do it & u wen u say u want ur order to be delivered in a certain place (a place that has been already a landmark in davao in other words a known place) they already knew where it is… but now… since there is already a delivery hot line, i’ve got no choice but to col that popular number.. it pisses me off ‘coz i get to spend so much time spelling my whole name, my address, & everything b’coz the one answering the col i tnk doesn’t even know the landmarks in davao… it’s time consuming & i hate it ‘coz it eats up my working time.. i love mcdo but sorry to tell the procedure isn’t good enough! the old one is far better than this.
i hope mcdo’s personnel will be able to hear the sentiments of their loyal clients.. if mcdo reli wants to satisfy their customers then they should serve us well.
May 17, 2009 at 5:04 pm
Blame the staff, not McDo itself. It’s a good fastfood chain, and I’m pretty sure that it’s not the same when it comes to other branches.
People make mistakes.
Try putting yourself on their shoes. Even if you say that it’s their responsibility, I’m sure a lot of people are also ordering.
May 17, 2009 at 5:07 pm
And, you guys should’ve verified your order earlier. And stop whining ! It’s annoying.
May 17, 2009 at 5:10 pm
May 19, 2009 at 11:12 am
Unbelievable.
McDo’s SEO is totally screwed (haha!), even though this article started more than a year ago.
Wala e. Mahina diskarte ng McDo.

June 21, 2009 at 8:53 am
Mcdonald’s is one of the well known fast food chains in the world considering that burger king and KFC only comes second to its rank.
minsan naman kasi, we as customers, tatanga-tanga mag order.. minsan, we should hear the front counter crew about their suggestions kasi it is true naman talaga na here in the philippines jollibee is the well known brand. kaya minsan we try to order stuff and mix it up to jollibee’s menu.. we tend to complain kaagad where in fact fault naman natin… and when it comes to presentation and taste of food, mcdonalds has a higher score compared to jollibee. the good thing is that, the bigmac that i had eaten in the USA has still the same taste and quality here in the philippines as compared to jollibee where every store has a peculiar taste..
when it comes naman to cleanliness and ambiance, lamang talaga ang mcdo… sosyal looking pa.. hindi cluttered ang store and has very neat and modern look… ang jollibee kasi has a very pang masa look.. pang masa talaga ang service and quality… they have many food in their menu and they are depriving the FOOD SAFETY POLICIES… they serve REGULAR AND BREAKFAST MEALS at the same time!?… yung pork ay nahahlo sa mga beef patties (50%beef 50% cultured worm) so mixed up ang lahat ng food being cooked sa mga grill nila… walang matinong standards… pati ang HALAL na seal violated nila.. so mga Islam brothers natin dyan… yngat kau…
i can say this because i had been a jollibee manager trainee before at bolton davao… and mind you… i was really happy na i had separated… mababa na ang sweldo… wala pang food safety procedures… alam ko lahat pasikot sikot ng mga pagkain ng jollibee… para lang kayong kumakain ng waste… kahit lagpas na holding time ng pagkain… iseserve pa rin.. yung pies talaga… dapat 1 hour and 30 minutes lang yan… pero sa jollibee kahit 6 hours na yan… iseserve pa rin yan… eew!
and about the delivery issue…
have you seen mcdonalds selling their products outside the store? hindi diba! kasi against food safety policies yan…
so the next time kakain kayo..
mag isip2x..

I’ve been trying to look for McDo’s email address or somewhere I can complain to share my nephew’s bad & humuliating experience at McDo Mendiola.
My nephew and his friend ate at McDo Mendiola, promptly paid the cashier and was waiting for his change when told that he was already given his change. He told the cashier that she has yet to give him his change that is why he was still standing in front waiting.
He was told to wait, after a considerable amount of time, with curious and some doubtful stares from other customers, he was told that they had to count the money in all their cash registers first, all 16 of them, to make sure that indeed he has not yet been given his change. The change in question is P70.00! My nephew & I were by then exhanging text messages, and he told me that the reason why they probably were treating him that way and looking at his suspiciously was because he was just waring a shirt and shorts. He told me he felt humuliated, with all the stares from the crew and even the manager.
I told him to let the matter go, just go home and I will reimburse whatever change and more needs to be reimbursed. He told me even if I give him P500.00 it will not suffice! The amount is immaterial, what was not acceptable was the treatment he got. This is the first time I heard and felt him feeling so bad about something! He told me something must really be done, and was asking me if I know people who works at McDo or knows somebody big in McDo. I told him I’ll do something about it, hence this mail. He was really pissed off becuase his experience was still the subject of our conversation over dinner. And to think he’s one person who very seldom complains about anything, basta pwede palamapasin, ok lang sa kanya. I’m guessing he must have been really hurt by the treatment.
By the way, he managed to note down the names of the manager and service crews concerned, as they proudly gave their names as if to dare him to really complain and do something. . .
THE HORROR ROLL: MA. GRACE CHENG, REYLYN ZINAMPAN & JOVELLE SENTILLAS, ALL FROM MCDO MENDIOLA BRANCH!
I hope people from McDo are monitoring this site and reading all these feedbacks. I’ve always regarded Jollibee and McDo highly when it comes to service, and I hope something must be done.

feel sorry for that scenario.maybe mcdo branch is budgeting labor force, specially delivery rider.here in manila 8mcdo riders are doing very well bcoz mcdo here are so many allmost evrywer many ridr to attend d pending deliveries.can you blog for us that here in katipunan quezon city 8mcdo riders are not receiving tip specialy in the big university of ateneo, were the customers are promenently son n daughters of bigtime millionares of this nation.thats the more horrible experience that appear, amidst our sucrifice to give fast customer service.mybe u can help us.only expressing our sentiments.ty

August 26, 2009 at 10:43 pm

that was all humor duh….mcdo is a well known standard fastfood chain.Don’t compare Jollibee and mc donalds.everybody loves mcdonald and as far as u know jollibee has a not set a good stardard service in parties, nexpierince q na iparty ang baby ko sa knila our choice is mcdo eversince kaya lng when book ok branch near us barangka, shaw and megamall they dont have any available slot for the day that we want to settle so we go for jollibee since it was a kids party nadismaya tlga ko wala na sa standard ang service while the party is going on.after then yung freebies na pinili nmin is out of stock they tell us na we will call us if they already have stock for that freebies after a month wala pa ako pa ang tumawag at hindi cla they dont care kc tpos na ang party ilang beses ako tumawag wala ng nangyari.ng 2 years old na lng ang baby nmin wala pa rin.If they are responsible and concern nakabook kna ng maaga sa knila sana inasikaso nila di ba!
