Shes got the packaging of a potential winner as she has created this controversy. People abroad doesnt really care much about speaking a perfect language, but its good that most Filipinos are concern about it and this is someting that everyone should be looking forward to. it never fails to baffle me how enlightened feminists abroad – professionals like lawyers, doctors, and other career women – join and win beauty contests there, while in the philppines, where beautiful and intelligent women abound we get… well. this is not to say she is not intelligent, maybe she just doesn’t speak English that well. Which brings me to my next point…

i don’t think we get bonus points for speaking English in those international beauty contests, right? so if our contestant will be able to express herself more intelligently in Filipino, why the heck do we never ask for an interpreter? The south american women and the japanese women do it all the time.
